Hello boys and girls and welcome to Let's Get Motivated - New Year's hobby resolution 2025

A happy and prosperous new year to all of you fellow wargamers!!

This thread is to get us motivated this year into finishing the projects that we have committed to in our resolution, the rules are fairly simple.

At the start of the year post what your hobby resolution, it can be models/terrain/conversions of any game type. No pressure if you don't finish anything this is for motivation nothing else.

Around the middle of the year post your progress, no images please, if you have want to share your progress with images, upload them into your blog and supply a link.

Around the end of the year post your progress, again no images, if you have finished a piece upload the images into your blog and supply a link.

The reason I don't want images in this thread is too get everyone that takes part views in their personal blog where the community can critique, etc.

You don't have a paint blog? well get one started in this forum section.

If you need advice etc. post here and the community will try and answer.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress

Grrr, !mrahil

This year will be similar to last, with just small adjustments. Flames of war points were too hard in comparision to other systems, so I lowered values a bit. "No new armies" rule got changed to "no new system", because I have so many different bits from so many armies that it might be difficult to keep track. Also, this year I really want to base those lizardmen. :D

Paint point value of armies. Full points below, point variants for 100 point system in brackets. Idea is to paint single army for each hobby goal point, so I can´t for example paint 2250 point of one army to scratch two goals.

-750 (75)
-1000 (100)
-1500 (125)

-Base lizardmen
-Play 5 games
-No new system
-Finish Taunar

Right now I think that favourites this year will be Bolt Action US and British forces, with Tau in close pursuit. Death Guard and Seraphon are massive forces already, so I'll probably just paint what I have at home and maybe something little to get to lowest bar. I would also like to continue on my Kharadron Overlords force this year, so we'll see how it goes.

I need to get at least 3000 points of my GoS project complete.
Also I need to get my first successful 3D printed accessories for them.
Mastering contrast paints to make painting quicker would be another goal.
Finally, learning how to and then doing bases is the last.

My goals for this year are:

MESBG:
- finish my Gondor board
- make one more Gondor building
- paint all my Isengard models

HOMM3:
- paint the Dungeon faction
- paint the Tower faction
- paint the Fortress faction
- paint the Rampart faction

That would probably take me more than a year:rolleyes:

More leaning towards the first
Lot of warriors and occasionally a captain

I have about 30 uruks and 20 wildman to go, so let me accompany you on your journey.

I want to get a tabletop ready force of my Outland Legion this year, so that shall be my New Years Resolution.

That means finishing up my saurus redcoats
Convert some chameleon skinks to be dressed as the 95th Rifles
Convert some regular skinks to be redcoat line infantry
Assemble a bastiladon or two and put some mother-fluffing cannons in place of those shiny crystals that make them targets for greedy treasure hunters
And maybe more.

My goals for this year are:

MESBG:
- finish my Gondor board
- make one more Gondor building
- paint all my Isengard models (tracker: 748/1400-ish)

HOMM3:
- paint the Dungeon faction
- paint the Tower faction
- paint the Fortress faction
- paint the Rampart faction

That would probably take me more than a year:rolleyes:

Totally forget to add:

Lizardmen/Seraphon:
- paint at least 3 models

They're going to be primarily fielded in AoS, but from time to time, using movement trays I might put them in the Old World
In that case, what army will you be using them as?

Lizardmen. I already have an Empire army specific for Old World gradually being built up (only need to get cavalry and that actually be ready to play), so the Legion will use the legacy faction lizardmen rules if I field them in The Old World. I have enough non converted lizards to pad out the numbers for the formations as well.

First quarter of year update!

Seraphon - 310 points painted
Death Guard - 110 points painted
Tau - 410 points painted
Bolt Action US - 739 points painted
QUAR - 976+502 points painted (To be lowered probably as those are skirmish points. Full rules to be published in summer)

-Base lizardmen
-Play 5 games

-No new system - Well... in theory, I am not starting new system as I don´t plan to play games with those minis :D
-Finish Taunar - Working hard

Half of year update!

Seraphon - 310 points painted
Death Guard - 110 points painted
Tau - 410 points painted
Bolt Action US - 1233 points painted
QUAR - around 1700-1800 points painted (To be lowered probably as those are skirmish points. Full rules to be published in summer)
MESBG Isengard - roughly 170 points painted (Isengard troll waiting for rules)

-Base lizardmen
-Play 5 games

-No new system - Well... in theory, I am not starting new system as I don´t plan to play games with those minis :D
-Finish Taunar - Working hard

Somewhat over the half-year mark, update:

Lizardmen/Seraphon:
- paint at least 3 models: (completed: trying to expand on it as well)
* Saurus Astrolith Bearer
* Saurus warriors
* Trogolodon

MESBG:
- finish my Gondor board (completed :) )
- make one more Gondor building (not yet started something)
- paint all my Isengard models (currently 1095/1400 pts)

HOMM3:
- paint the Dungeon faction (completed)
- paint the Tower faction (completed)
- paint the Rampart faction (on the way, over half the models finished)
- paint the Fortress faction (only primed)

That would probably take me more than a year:rolleyes:

Third quarter of year update!

Seraphon - 420 points painted
Death Guard - 160 points painted
Tau - 550 points painted
Isengard - 244 points painted
Bolt Action US - 1503 points painted
QUAR - No idea... Rules still not out yet
Trench crusade - around 700

-Base lizardmen
-Play 5 games - Yay! 2 games of Bolt action played!
-No new system - Well... in theory, I am not starting new system as I don´t plan to play games with those minis :D
Also... I´m not looking at Epic Warpath, you are! :D
-Finish Taunar - Still working hard

I hope to boost Seraphon points by painting spawn of chotec, stegadon and skinks.
Death guard will probably get couple more Plague marines, Brigand and possibly more terminators.
With Tau, I am kinda deadlocked by Taunar and Stormsurge. Both of those need me at modellers club to progress, but my attendance is sparse.
Isengard will probably get another demo team, couple more warg riders and plenty of wild wargs (If I muster willpower)
Bolt Action US - I am already clipping Easy Eight from sprue, other than that I am basically finished with them.
QUAR... well Quar will get whatever will be goofy enough, since there are no current rules.
Trench crusade required some mathmagic as it is both points and ducats, but naval raiders convert gets 1 ducat worth of upgrade for 25 points, so I kinda went from there. If I paint everything I have, I´ll get to about 1600 points.

Welp, 2024 was better. :D

Seraphon - 520 points painted
Death Guard - 160 points painted
Tau - 550 points painted
Isengard - 384 points painted
Bolt Action US - 1503 points painted
QUAR - around 1000 for both Crusaders and Coftyrs, but around half of those points are vehicles.
Trench crusade - somewhere between 1000 and 1500

-Base lizardmen
-Play 5 games - Yay! 2 games of Bolt action played!
-No new system - Well... It was all fun and games, till I started blasting. Trench Crusade, Epic Warpath, heck I think that Quar came this year as well (not sure if it was start of this year, or end of last one)
-Finish Taunar - working hard, or hardly working?

Summary of the year:
2025 was year of great changes. I was not in modeler's club as often, started painting bunch of boardgames again and in october I lost my job (where I painted the most during lunchbreaks). We'll see what the new year brings.
