Zimbabwe's economy had at one point gone into such hyper-inflation that they had to start issuing trillion dollar bank notes, else the currency wouldn't be worth the paper it was printed on.
That is the problem with authors creating a vast epic. When I was a kid I was given 3 books by mum for Xmas - The Amtrak Wars by English author Patrick Tilley. Inspired me to seek out other works of his. He visited Australia to promote the next just released 4th book of the series. I met him at the Galaxy bookshop in Sydney. They specialised in sci-fi and fantasy. I got him to sign the books I had and asked him when he would finish the series. I was disappointed when he said it might be some time as he was already bored with the series. Eventually I think there were 6 books. But not the answer you want to hear as a young fan.
Wow. I knew Mexico's economy took a severe nose-dive at one point, but Zimbabwe's was clearly worse...
