Welcome to the voting thread for our 10th instance of The Feathered Serpent competition! This competition's theme is: “ENDEMIC LIFE”, as chosen by @Explodingzeb and @Vosrik , the co-winners of the last challenge. The idea is for people to putting little details on their bases, little extras like lizards, frogs, crystals and such. The voting is now open and will close on Saturday, 14h of june. This round we have eight entries, and this would normally allow only for 2 votes, but i'm gonna round up, so You can vote for THREE entries (remember to not vote for your own piece )
#1 - @TzhunkiHuanchisukaePiangi Spoiler: Durthu and spirit friends #2 - @JTSleep Spoiler: Unused, but not forgotten #3 - @Tuchanka Spoiler: Southland Marches
#4 - @Hojdar Spoiler: A dangerous Marker #5 - @Nathan Weeres Spoiler: Printed base #6 - @Imrahil Spoiler: Forest and Leaves
OK, with the time running short, i think i can finally make some strictly personal considerations and reveal what i've voted for. 1 - Durthu and spirit friends really nice idea, maybe the spirit animals were a little too uniformly painted for my tastes. 2 - unused but not forgotten a great piece, my only issue with it it's that it's too much "clean" and perfectly painted, it doesn't seem abandoned at all 3 - Southland marches oh boy, that base gives a real feel of mud and dirt. it took one of my votes. 4 - a dangerous marker not the best model, but cool idea and horribly cute in its own way. i gave it a vote just for the fun. 5 - printed base i'm surprised by the current standing of this piece, as it was really nicely detailed... to the point that IMO the base is better than the model itself! it would have been my fourth vote. 6 - forest and leaves the "trunk" is a real piece of wood? because it really seems! another entry that is surprisingly falling behind... maybe the bigger painted leaves were not at the same quality level of the rest of the composition? I'm being really picky here. 7 - snakes of lustria ah, the good old swarms. Excellent and colourful piece, a nice mix between old models and new ones. Great entry, and i'm not surprised it's ranked so high 8 - lost kingdom salamander ok, this piece is incredible and by far my fav. of the whole bunch. I'm surprised it's not winning... the splashes in the water, the laying eggs, all the details of the tiny frogs and oxy. A stunning, living base.
I was wondering if you start with your thoughts again. It was great feedback in the past. Keep doing it Also, I was going from this wiki text: "If the Lizardmen ever had the knowledge of how these ancient wonders worked, they lost it long ago. However, they do know how to activate them — when the glyphs are touched in the right order, the device thrums with arcane energies." So in my mind, there was a group of lizardmen who dared not to use this particular Engine of Gods as they lost skink priests who remembered configurations. So they repeatedly keep it clean and path to it free. Hence the name Unused, but not forgotten.
