This is... not wrong for SOME stores... Lucky for me, I work for a big box hardware store. We aren't really a Black Friday destination. Don't sell toys, don't sell much for electronics. Power tools, sure, but those aren't chase items and they get put on sale back on November 1st. For us, we're one of the last places most people would go. They get up for the midnight door busters, then the 5-6 am ones, and then they go BACK TO BED for at least three hours, grab some coffee and breakfast, and come to our place around noon, considerably more relaxed, with one catch. Poinsettias. We always have them on sale JUST for that one weekend, and when the doors open at 6 am on Black Friday, there is always a dozen church ladies and nuns with carts who scramble to buy as many as they can cheaply for church decorating. Nuns can throw down. Don't mess with them.
