Strangely, I'm not disappointed.
You probably have no idea given you don't live in italy, but i'm witnessing the long-term effects of a deliberate bad (and corrupt) management of the whole italian football system, which has been constantly applied during the last 20-25 years.
The system is rotten from the head to the roots, the damage done is so profound that even if you start anew right now, it wil pass a decade before seeing positive results. What a shame.

I'm only sad for my daughter, which has never seen Italy play the world cup, and she was really invested in it.

This is your opportunity to introduce her to Messi. After that, she won't care about the Italian national team.

Fun fact: Messi has more Ballon D'or wins that all Italian players combined across the history of the game!
