Despite rooting for Argentina, I have to admit that Leandro Paredes kicking the ball into the Dutch bench was pretty dirty.

I agree on this as well.
For the rest of it I had no idea about the context around the game and wasn't aware of the history of the Argentina - Netherlands games from the past that much (the lost final was more a thing of my father's generation, and the lost final to the Germans 4 years earlier)

For me the lost final of 2010 against Spain is the most painful. Luckily 'we' beaten Spain 5-1 in the 2014 group stage

Either did I, but they really did a number to bring such emotion out of the normally mild mannered Messi. Probably not a good idea to taunt the GOAT!
