Most of the substitute Stegadons I've seen look stupid ...

This one does not! Please tell us more about that model.

Good job on the howdah and crew by the way. Lots of detail there that you picked out, and everything is clean and well defined.

Re: The Venom Legion of Quetza (Something huge this way come

Sorry for the lack of a reply, been busy.

The model is called Kadamastar, and is produced by a company called Mierce-minatures. These guys are a legend for all Beastmen players over at Herdstone for the top minotaur, beastmen characters and monster models they produce.

    http://www.mierce-miniatures.com/index.php?act=pro&pre=mrm_dkl_kth_kro_mbs_101_000

The base is indeed way to big for a propper stegadon really, as its (I think) 100x100 mm, but I think it a small price to pay for the look of the model. Most tournaments here in Sweden allow it also.

Aye, Mierce is one of my top sources for alternative models. Everything I'v ordered from them has been top quality, and delivered without a hitch.

While we are on the subject of Mierce, let me show you my "Slaan" with his BSB!

That is beyond awesome. Very unique!

Sad thing though: I would asume this guy fought way better than our bloated psychic frogs!

The whole army looks great but the Scar-Veteran BSB and the salamander are particularly cool!

Re: The Venom Legion of Quetza ("Slaan" added!)

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!

As for the basing, I use materials from a company called Basecrafts, and more specifically, their woodland basing kit: http://basecrafts.com/index.php/basing-kits/woodland-basing-kit-885.html

I first paint the base using Steel Legion Drab, then add a generous layer of PVA glue to the whole base. I then apply the soil scatter, but only loosley, so that there are some small free space inbetween the grains. I then apply forrest scatter to fill in the holes between the soil scatter. (I guess the same effect can be gotten by just mixing the two up). This provides you with a base of dark soil and fallen, rotten vegitation. The rocks that are recived with the kit are far to large for anthing but large bases, so I break them up using a hammer. I then glue a few to the base using PVA glue. When the glue is dry, i wash the rocks in Nuln oil (Black wash), to remove the light, chalky apperance. Most bases are to small to add the fallen brances to, except large monsters and cavalry, but if I do use it, I then glue them into place, and wash them with the brown wash. Then I add small tufts of the clumped folige to the base, most often around the rocks and branches. I then finish of the base by adding varying clumps of the two different colored lichens to the larger open areas left.

    And there it is ;)

Re: The Venom Legion of Quetza ("Slaan" added!)

    Right then!

I'v been busy painting my Beastmen for a tournament for the past six or so weeks, and as such have had precious little time to spare for the lizardmen. But with the new book out, and my birthday coming up in a few days time, i'm sure i'll soon have a pile of juicy stuff to show you. Finished painting Tehenhuain today, so i'll throw him up tomorrow as a little soft start.

Right, as promised, here is Tehenhuain! Although i'll be using him as a skink priest using lore of beasts, seeing as i'm not a huge fan of simply fluffy lists, where Tehenhuain belongs really.

Forgot my basing materials at my other home though...
