Absolutely right, but since the great horned rat has always been part of the chaos pantheon in age of sigmar and skaven have only been included in the chaos allegiance since the start of AoS, i think it still fits.
I actually like the joke comment about making aelves a 4th faction. Call it "realm-born" or something, for the more neutral, magical factions that are more for their own goals and not directly opposed to chaos So Order would be: Stormcast, Cities, Seraphon, Kharadron, and probably LRL and Realm-born would be: Sylvaneth, Idoneth, DoK, and Fireslayers
Even back in the Warhammer days my personnal theory has long been that the Great Horned Rat is actually a manistifation of Tzeentch.
I am all for more traditional alignments. Order should be cities, stormcast, lumineth, fyreslayers, and ko. These are good people (mostly) that are more lawful and order prone than the others. Even the sky pirate ko follow a code. A neutral faction of sylvaneth, deepkin, Seraphon, and sons of Behemat. These are the people who aren't evil, but don't go out of their way to be good. They follow their own needs and look out for themselves. They don't really work with the evil people but sometimes work with the good, when it serves their purposes. Chaos in the traditional sense would be gloomspite, mawtribes, orruks, and daughters. These are the people who live for death destruction and chaos. evil would be the 4 chaos gods and skaven. World domination, destruction of the enemy, total conquest, just generally being a jerk.
Not to change the subject, but since this is a rumor thread, what do you all think of the rumors circulating right now that we're approaching AoS 3rd Edition? Personally, I'm hoping that's not the case. Every time a new edition comes around the armies that get updated first get all the attention and the armies that have to wait till the end for their updates (like we did) basically get shafted. Unless GW is planning on rolling out new rules for each faction really quickly, I'm hoping that the rumors of 3e are just rumors.
I think more of a 2.5 would be good, changing a few things like how LoS works, ditching the double turn mechanic, and maybe some other minor tweaks. Otherwise the game plays really well imo
I had heard next summer would be in line with the amount of time between editions gw usually sticks to. From what I understand, if it came out then it would be equivalent to the time between 1st and 2nd for AoS and 8-9 for 40K which seems reasonable. Personally I would be ok with waiting longer for a new edition if it meant that they dropped all the new tomes early in the edition and used the rest of its lifespan for balancing and preparing the next edition. But it’s gw nothing comes quick or efficiently lol.
A new edition now seems far too quickly. Even if you ignore how short this edition will have lasted some factions (like us) only got a current tome this year. That would mean we'd have had up to date rules for less than a year during 2nd edition. Which is just slightly ridiculous.
Yeah, if GW is going to introduce a tweak of (for example) the LoS rule, at most it will be done in the GHB
Though to be fair space wolves got an update in psychic awakening and then new rules with the new edition so those rules only lasted a couple months.
well that's equally stupid Though didn't they say that the rules from psychic awakening were written with the new edition in mind so for the most part it should still be relevant?
Psychic Awakening rules are supposed to be relevant for 9th Edition, at least until the new rule books come out and invalidate them...
I I take it you didnt play wood elves in 8th edition? lol Their new book was valid for I think 11 months, and it got a rules update through end times during that. This was after having waited for a new book for 9 years This is Games Workshop we're talking about
maybe they learned? In fairness though, that was the end-times, not just a normal edition change. So that one not lasting long isn't too surprising.
I wouldnt be surprised if Broken Realms is basically bridging the gap between AoS2 and AoS3, and it sounds like there will be updates for many factions. I think the designers have generally come a long way since the start of AoS in regards to rules, so even if AoS3 is coming this summer, Seraphon isnt in any stretch far behind future updates/book releases. There are loads of tools in our book, some of which arent super hot right now, but if the meta switches up you can use those tools. Our book is really well rounded tbh and there are loads of options depending on whats the shizniz.
meh, the main thing I'd fear would be missing out on new mechanics and the powercreep that brings; for example how we still don't have prayers or mount traits for some inexplicable reason. They tend to take ages to update that if you don't get a new tome. Just look at how long it took us to get a faction specific spell lore or some variant of faction specific endless spells despite us having some of the best wizards in the universe.
