Now the Tyrant. He's gonna be the general, so i wanted a really imposing presence on the battlefield, even mightier then what he was already offering:

    Tyrant 1.jpg

I've added a sort of "sight" to the volcano cannon, but most of all I've put on the top a massive totem (? sort of), taken from chaos beastmen bits.

And finally the despoiler. As you can see, apart from the face, he was disgustingly loyalist:

    Despoiler 1.jpg

Have no fear! with many spared pits i've got only to choose how to improve it. so, I've added:

    - spikes and vaious skulls on the left shoulder
    - big skull on the right shoulder
    - decorated skull on the shield, taken from a (i think) herald of khorne
    - frontal khorne decoration with skull and blood
    - vertical lances on the top, that help in sustaining a chain that is wrapped all around the knight

It's a pity that in 9th, to play pure knights list is a uphill battle.

Generally speaking, it's difficult to grab all those 45 pts you could obtain by secondary obj, and knights find a hard time in maxing primaries. I saw 3 random BatReps on youtube, and all of them resulted in a IK loss. :p

Just as an aside, GW have forgotten to release the plastic Flayed Ones and Crypteks they had planned to give Necrons in another wave of releases. They must give us what we have earned, before they can move onto nancy-boy Blood Angels and degenerate Dark Eldar. My will be done!

In the meantime, i'm watching some BatRep with the new DG.
And here i was, thinking that the old ones were hard-to-kill models…

It's mostly polystirene, plus glue and paper.
Usually i tend to use 3 kind of polystirene:
1, the one taken from food packages (useful for bunkers or walls),
2, side packages of things as computers, tv or similar that give me a structure already formed, as in this case (buildings, fortifications),
3, sheets that i cut to the shape i need.

Here's the relevant page of my terrains thread

Games Workshop have heard my plea! As well as teasing the Harbinger of Eternity and Flayed Ones coming as part of the next Kill Team starter set, they are also releasing the Harbinger of Despair next week:

I was considering using the Ossiarch Mortisan Soulreaper to be a Harbinger of Despair for my Necrons, but this chap is also a good interpretation.

    DEBATE: LoW and you.

from a recent discussion ongoing in the "new rumor" thread, taken from a post by @Dread Saurian

ATM 'nids got "only" 2 LoW, the iconic Hierophant and the less notable Harridan. I would like very much a tyranids LoW from GW and not from forgeworld.

The reason is that i love LoW, be them knights, baneblades, whatever. I think these big monstrosities are what makes 40k the epic game it should be. I agree that they are more suited in apocalypse games, but a 500 prs LoW is fine in 2k battles.
Despite owning a Chaos Knights army, I'm not a great fan of full LoW at 2000 pts (Imperial Knights), but each time I play a battle and there's a LoW, i feel a sense of excitement that basic armies don't have.
It's the same reason why i own a Dread Saurian, after all.

    What's your take on LoW?

Personally I have always hated the idea of introducing Lords of War into basic 40K because it turns the game into an arm’s-race of ‘sod you, mine’s bigger’. That was what Apocalypse was meant to be for when it was originally conceived, and I still think GW should return to the original idea of only allowing ‘big stuff’ to be used in Apocalypse.

The awful idea of allowing such massive stuff into basic 40K started when Phil Kelly made the Wraithknight, a Trygon-size monster for Craftworld Eldar, into the most OP piece of shit ever, and instead of nerfing the Wraithknight which is what they should have done, GW made 7th Edition to force it into being a 1-per-army unit, but which also allowed other factions to bring one of their own ‘big units’ into the game.

Then Imperial players started whining about how they couldn’t beat those big units normally so GW created Imperial Knights, which allowed them to field an entire army of massive walkers which didn’t fit into the medium-scale setting of normal 40K.

Then Chaos players started whining about how they couldn’t beat Imperial Knights so GW brought in Chaos Knights.

And the problem just keeps getting worse - now they’ve brought the same problem to AoS with Sons of Behemat.

Why couldn’t they have just returned to the original idea of ‘keep it for Apocalypse’?

It may just be my experience with Horus Heresy tournament scenes, but Lords of War are the kind of thing I expect to see limited by the battle size.

From personal experience, it's relatively rare to see LoWs show up in games as small as 2500pts, and those that show up have been under the rule of thumb that a Lord of War cannot exceed 20%-25% of the battle size point value in a given list. Of course, the pricetag on going large in Horus Heresy is also a limiting factor - few people on the tournament scene will fork out the cash for a Forge World falchion or warhound titan unless they really like the model.

It won't stop some people from trying to cheese a double-typhon list at smaller scales for instance (not fun getting pie-plated off the table with 10" blasts), but such people make themselves known really quickly for all the wrong reasons anyway.

Don't get me wrong: I admire GW's push to make the larger game modes more accessible with the plastic kits. I just don't think they're handling it properly with how much that gets circulated back into their base games.

Yeah, i would really like to see a limitation around 25% of the total points.
After all, to field a low is a luxury that comes at the cost of 3cps and also hampers the generic buffs for the rest of the army (as some things are available only if the whole army comes from the same place).

But i don't think we will see it, as GW is now in a self imposed corner, with the codexes for IK and Chaos knights.

That would be great, I agree, like Warhammer Fantasy's points limit on Rare units.

I also didn't know that you had to pay Command Points to field a Lord of War, that's another measure that helps to put a limit on LoW arm's races and that's a good thing.

Yeah, unless you're fielding Guilliman or some named chaos primarch (which can be included in the army with no restrictions, except that they must be the general), to use a LoW requires the superheavy detachment and that costs 3 cps

Well, that's better than nothing, I suppose, but I certainly think they should do more, especially with the Primarchs because that's getting ridiculous

Much more than LoW, i loathe primarchs.
2000 pts is not a small force, not when you basically can deploy a significant portion of a SM chapter. I can see the AdMech being supported by a knight.
But to have primarchs on the table? On a almost regular basis?
THOSE, i would limit to narrative apocalypse.
