Blog Vosrik's Workshop Hall

A friend of mine found a tiny twig on a hike recently that had half a dozen little "pine cones" on it, so I got the chance to use some of them for the base of my Starseer:

Sometimes the best basing bits are just outside!

I went to my LGS last week for a drop-in 1000 point game, but as it turns out there aren't a whole lot of AoS players in my city :/ so nobody was there, although that may also be due to the upcoming rules in a month or two.

Anyhow, I've started on the next 10 warriors! Here's the first one. I also just bought a huge bag of "reptile bark bits" that make really nice rocks for bases that I got to use for this guy.

Another beauty!

I'm usually not a fan of busy bases but with the saurus on top it doesn't really pull attention away from the main focus would look great on a matching table.

Thanks! I'm personally of the opposite opinion, I usually find models to be quite bland if they have a bare or plainly painted base. There are exceptions out there of course, but I personally quite enjoy depicting my minis in their respective environments. :)

Very nice! Your bases always look awesome. I'm a big fan of the directional striations on the weapons too
Thank you! The blades are meant to be a layman's obsidian, as I'm not particularly skilled at stuff like NMM.

Haven't posted in a while since I've just been working on more Warriors before getting my Kroxigors underway. Here's what I've finished so far!

For a couple of these I really tried making more dynamic poses by constructing different levels on the bases, forcing the warriors to have a more unique stance. The biggest example of this is the third photo here, with the warrior nearly leaning off the base.

I never noticed the wood grain on the spears until now looks good. Trying to adjust the poses with the base is definitely a good idea if you have more then 1 squad to try and make them not looks like attack of the clones.

Finally finished up my last warriors and got started on a brand new unit type. Kroxigors!! I'm beyond excited how good they are this edition, so now is a great time to get them painted up from my two Vanguard boxes.

As always, I picked a lizard as inspiration for my paint style. I decided to use the Red Headed Agama:

I also decided to go all out for this first guy and make him as dynamically posed as possible. I wanted to evoke the image of the krox stepping over a little pool of water mid swing.
