As I stated in his army list thread, it doesn't really matter if a character joining a unit gains scout or not. Because during deployment...
Why move 6 inches? You'd get the same to hit from not moving and long range versus moving and short range. Also you could march and shoot so no...
I am pretty sure it states that characters must be in the first rank, so you would have to extend the front rank for the slann.
Give me a page number a page number and I will tell you if I am wrong. But even if he does it doesn't matter if the scar-vet has to deploy first....
The scar-vet can join the Chameleons sure enough, the problem is he does not have the Scout special rule so he can not deploy with them....
They may seem a bit redundant but harassing war machines from the first turn on is priceless, and is more likely to get the rest of those poison...

Ya, war machines are no longer immune to poison in 8th.

All the plastic sets look really nice, especially the demon prince. I am all about options on the big guys to make them somewhat unique.
Scouts can now deploy anywhere 12" away from enemy, even in plain sight so opponents can't camp out terrain and make your scouting deployment...
May have just been a rumor I read on warseer, will double check the book tonight.
No need to apologize, open debate about possible rule interpretations helps people remember the rules, and/or see a rule that they could have...
I am not sure, I thought it was different troop types, like mounted or Monstrous infantry. I will have to look at that when I get home.
