That can work but don't overdo it. It may look more wet-shiny than gem-shiny. I use gloss varnish on gems but haven't fully figured that out myself.

Oldblood or Sunblood with 40 Saurus Warriors could work as well. Or a ScarVet on Cold One, 20 Knights and a Razordon.
