8th Ed. 1 Rule Check and 1 Queston

Okay my 1 rule Check is if i have a 5+ Scaly Skin save and I cast a spell that gives me a 5+ Scaly skin does it Stack and give me a 3+ Scaly skin or does it remain a 5+ this is the deciding factor of if i run a Lore of Metal Slann.

and my one other Question is i'm running low on Devlin Mud Wash what is the Corresponding Wash/ What ever they call it now in the New Line of citadel Paints

Special rules do not stack unless specified to do so. Scaly skin has no such rule, so casting that spell on something with a 5+ scaly skin save does nothing.

It does not stack. For reference, as scaly skin is a special rule:
Multiple DIFFERENT special rules can be in effect together
Multiple of the SAME special rules does NOT stack together except where specified (Extra Attacks, Fights in extra ranks)

The one games workshop says matches is agrax earthshade, but it doesn't match at all. There is a thread around here somewhere, but it's probably buried by now here it is, where someone explored the differences.

Since the rules question has already been answered, I'll chime in on the Devlin Mud. From many of the Army Plog forums that I have read and from advice given to me by painters much better than myself, I am using Army Painter's QuickShade for the Devlin Mud wash equivalent.

There are 3 different tones of Quickshade - Light, Strong, and Dark. Depending on how much shading you want would depend on the variant. Both the Light and the Strong have a medium to dark brown wash. The Dark is closing in on black. The Strong variation works great on skeletons and the grimy/gritty look of peasants or creatures.

The "trick" though is to use it as a wash and not entirely as intended (as a dipping solution, though you can do this and still achieve a quick and good effect!). I find that if I paint on the dipping solution, I can control it better to make sure it doesn't pool up in recessed areas too much. One other thing is that the Quickshade will make all your models shiny, so a Matt Spray will be needed (or a Dull Coat) of which I use Testers Dull Coat. It works great!
