Another thing, the Armor of Destiny counts as Heavy Armor, so it gives you +2 save. Heavy Armor + Scaly Skin + Cold One = 1+ save!

Indeed. I miss typed that and meant that I have a 1+ save with steg helm (helm + scaly skin + shield + Cold one).

    Typo fail.

Edit: That being said, I am going to change the Scar-Vet build to Armor of Destiny + GW.

The ward save will generally be better and the impact hit can be alright, but then again do you really need the D3 impact hit?

Generally speaking I always roll with the armour of destiny for my Oldbloods/scar vets unless i have something very specific in mind for them. It just benefit us so much and we're in a quite lucky position. Due to scaly skin an OB can have both a 4+ ward save along with a rerollable +1 armour save. This really isn't easily acquired in general. Just think about how emprie character are restricted due to their empire platemail giving them 4+, but if they go for armour of destiny they lose +1 AS and cannot thus get a 1+ AS. Alternatively they'll have to consider whether or not they want the 4+ ward save from enchanted items or dawnstone for rerollable armour. Our OB doesn't need to consider much, just take it.

So yeah.. If you're going to spend 50 pts on magic items on him anyway why not just go with the ward? If you wanted him to be cheap you could pick something else
