Rhodium is right,... thats why I had to pay more for the shield as stated in the RB.

I actually thought about giving my priest an additional spell but since I was (maybe still am) not really convinced by the lore of heavens... But in retrospective I agree that the ground spell of this lore is a nice hex and harmonic convergence is indeed also nice. Maybe I had no real chance of appreciating the features of the lore enough.

My opponents usually come with a lvl 4 magician (beastmen) and 2 skaven magicians. So why is a scroll not so useful ?

Last time a played against ogres, it saved my butt...

Yeah, I would disagree about the effectiveness of dispel scrolls in a "low points" game. Personally, I never leave home without one. If your opponent happens to roll just one awesome spell, that obliterates half a unit of temple guard, for instance, you'll regret it.
There is a trade off in aggressive play (max. spells, and try to assassinate the enemy caster) vs defensive (dispel scroll), so I suppose each to their own. My opinion is that lore of heavens won't reliably give you spells useful enough to trade off against shutting down a tier 6 spell.

As a side note, I also never leave home without a dispel scroll, it is handy to have something up your sleeve that protect you for one magic phase when either you use your dispell dice or you don't get many

    Hi there,

although this discussion is a little bit outdated, I though I keep you updated how it went with my list.

I made some games, so far so good but cant remember the details of most but the last, it was yesterday and against VC.

    I brought
Scar-Vet with Burning Blade, light armor, shield, dragonhelm and I think luckstone
Skink Priest LVL 2 with a dispel scroll

31 Saurus Warriors incl. full commando

    2 x 10 Skink skirmishers

    7 Chameleon skinks

2 x Salamander Packs, one with an extra snack

He fielded a hero on a flying horse (sorry I am not so familiar with the VC terminology) a Varghulf,
2 units of zombies, a master necromancer, 5 Hexwraiths and a unit skeletons.

None of his units ever saw a close combat except for the varghulf and the skeletons who killed one salamander that was paralyzed because in the first round it ate 3 of his skinks (and guess what, YES, it was the one without the extra snack...)
The rest of the army I totally outmaneuvered. He spend almost 2 turns trying to kill my chameleon skinks, even raised 14 zombies to attack them! And guess what, the chameleons beat the sh*t out of them brainless undead! They died in turn 4 or 5 due to some heavy magic missle attacks... who cares. If I had known that his hero (was a hero and not a lord as I assumed) had only 2 wounds, I would have concentrated more on him. But in the fist turn I forced him to make 5 saves but he did all of them successfully... :(

ok, I blasted 3 of the hexwraiths with the thunderbolt only to kill the remaining ones with my saurus.
I killed the hero with my skinks, and also brought the varghulf down to one wound with the skinks.

Sadly at one charge I choose to flee with one of my skink units and was not able to rally. I think this and the fact that he hat so was so incredible lucky that his varghulf survived saved his game.

at the end it was a draw, although it felt like a victory. Totally annoyed him with my flexibility and at no point was in any danger. lost 2 units because I was unlucky with fleeing.. But I was lucky to bring that magic weapon and that I got the thunderbolt.

have to admit his game play (as always) was not that good, and if it woundn't have been for the other player giving him hints he would have probably done more stupid things, but he is much more experienced then I am, so I don’t feel sorry for him :D especially because we agreed on: no Lords and no sorcerer lvl 3 or higher, and he fields a master necromancer with lvl3 ....

next game will probably be next week against skaven or dark elves. and honestly, I see no chance.
Skaven as always will block me with his 10^23 slaves and shoot away everything else. And dark elves, the same :D
