Game 1

I had the same list as 500 with some kroxigor and a few extra Saurus.

I wanted to make my army a bit softer and more playable but game 1 I had an undefeated chaos army. I considered going full degenerate and taking another priest with a lore familiar but I decided to go halfway, which also allowed me to keep my painted units

We had a normal battle but mucked up the scenario which resulted in a weird deployment and 24" apart

I thought I had a chance if I had first turn or fireball and I'd back myself with both.

I got neither 20260213_171440.jpg
The game started promising, my skinks wounded a dragon ogre and a fireball finished it off.

However I made a single error moving the damn skinks on the right and it proved costly. I left one (only one!) of their bases at an angle that pointed at the Saurus. This let the until of Daemons overrun the skinks into the Saurus flank. I had intended to delay them a turn or two. It would have allowed me to march right up to the chariot to deprive them of impact attacks

Whilst we were a march for them, it put us in a poor position

When the chariot did arrive the champion bravely went down the deprive it of some combat res. In fact, we won by two, and the chariot fled! The champion had his hero/general on it and a successful chase would have brought me back in the game but it wasn't to be.

Meanwhile the kroxigor showed their mettle and killed the remaining dragon ogre.

The horsemen took the skinks out easily.

Eventually it all culminated in a bash in the middle

From here everything charged, it was just too much for us. That damn fireball never went off again and the Chaos list was just too good.

So most of my units that died were properly dead in terms of advancement. My skinks actually got more XP and my priest was okay but everything else got wiped. So I made a new list, trying to keep the power level down.

My next battle was another chaos list

Note the photo is upside down - This turned out to be a pretty boring battle.

I had better shooting and the terrain was concentrated in the corner so I turtled up and waited for him to come to me - but he never arrived

My opponent was trying to get things right but he ran out of time, so all that happened was I killed two units of hounds (60vp) and therefore I got a victory.

This is how it ended

So my opponent and I decided to try again - this time properly fighting!

Battle 3 to come...

Same armies but going head on!

They went straight at each other. The skinks did okay on the chaff, but I couldn't avoid those lances. Cav aren't in the best place in the old world, but I still think they should have to travel a minimum of 3" to use their lances. There wasn't much we could do to avoid copping it straight on.

The Saurus faired better against the chaos warriors but it was a matter of time before the Knights hit them in the flank. My skink priest did very little all game

It wasn't long before the chaos forces had wiped us off the table. If nothing else, it vindicated my decision to play it conservative/boring last game.

Current XP
Old blood - 1
Priest - 7
Saurus -1
Krox -1
Skinks - 5 (and ld 6)
