8th Ed. 8th edition possible release time?

I was talking with my security guard in work (he's an avid Orge fan, boo!) and I was moaning about the lack of releases or information on Lizardmen releases and he stated something i'd not realised before, but makes a lot of sense. It seems like GW are releasing armies during different seasons depending on where they are in the Warhammer world, for example Orges and Chaos were released around winter time, those areas in the Warhammer world are pretty cold places, so he said a possible release date could be around Summer.

Which means only a few more months to wait if his theory is true.

He's about right, but almost certainly not for that reason. GW will base their releases on sales figures, development schedule, and market research, not on fluff reasons.

Nonetheless, Over on Warseer, its been indicated that the release date is the latter half of this year (around August time). We won't know anything until a couple of weeks before that; for instance, High Elves are due in March, but there's nothing concrete as yet.

I don't think Orcs & Goblins are going to get another 8th edition book. Unless your timetable is indicating they will get their 9th edition book before 9th edition is released. As an Orc & Goblin player, that could be sweet though.

I'm holding to the naïve hope that everyone gets an 8th edition book. Your time table leaves out Beastmen, Skaven, and Dark Elves. They all need an update.

To be fair, that warseer thread has been 100% accurate in predicting the last 3 WFB book releases (maybe more, have only watched it starting last year). They have been off on the month released though all 3 times however and the book always came out later than expected.

Dark Elves are in there - abbreviated to DE

I'm expecting them in the slot Warriors or Daemons had this year. About 8-10 months ago it was said that Dark Elf plastics were in production (Witch Elves and what looked to be an Executioners/Blackguard dual kit). These usually have 18 month lead in times, so early next year would be about right.

That list has been approved by two guys Harry and Hastings, who have extremely high rates of accuracy, and the OnG was a specific addition to it. I'm surprised too, but I guess that they are getting the Beastmen/Skaven "designed with the next edition in mind" approach. Perhaps they are the next starter set?
