I just watched the game from the feed and Fyreslayers are rediculous. Poor Seraphon never had a chance with them able to pop up like they do then charge.
I especially like how it was neither a Kroaknado nor a Thunderquake. Those are the two everyone expects. The Fyreslayers....well I think I agree there isn't much you could have done. That list looks like it was basically a hard counter.
Yeah, I think Kroak and Thunderquake are skewed lists that often have hard counters. My list is more all around with a strong alpha strike. I also really like it because it is very dependable. You know exactly when and where everything can arrive and there are few risky rolls that are not rerollable.
First of all, welcome! Great Job in placing 3rd! I really like that you didn't use Kroak as almost every list i see in my local community is the dead frog sitting on the Vortex Unfortunately you didn't bring a single Saurus but i guess, they are just not that valuable in tournaments :'(
This is a very interesting list, as it managed to claim a top spot while not playing our typical top contenders (Kroak, Thunderquake). Congratulations on the win, and me too would love some battle reports
I saw pictures of a yellow skink army on the tga forum, was that your army ? Could you share your painting scheme for the skink and the salamander pls ? Gratz on the result, would really appreciate some battle reports as well
That's not entirely correct, There are examples of Sunclaw lists doing pretty well in competitive environments.
Congrats on the 3rd place finish! I was so pumped when I saw Seraphon on the podium. 2 questions, first, we have had a lot of discussion about uses for the Engine of the Gods. I would love to hear how you use it and what role it serves in your army. Second, were you normally bringing down the Celestant-Prime on turn 1?
Thanks for all the congratulatory words. EotG was a first turn teleport forward while within 10" of the Slann then zap key buff pieces with the EotG d6 mortal wounds and an arcane bolt channeled from the slann for another d3 MW. Prime came down turn one in most games and just used the cometstrike scepter to take the last d3 (or 3 using his special ability) MW on that key target. Prime was a great distraction away from the rippers and caused my opponents to be saturated with high priority targets. The list is great against things life plaguetouched or mirrorshield as there were always ways to use the right tool to bypass their defenses.
Can you do some Battle reports I would love to read what happened, also how about some pictures of your army I'm sure our members would love to see them, start a painting blog. Oh and Welcome aboard
According to the lore you are right, skinks rule, they also do all the working stuff which makes them super important But they aren't fighters, scouts maybe but nothing more
Thank you so much for all the heads up, and really glad to have you here ! GREATLY done *but you already know that * and I too agree that Kroak and Thunderquake are too used at the moment and thus too many counters exist. Really cool list, and I would love to have you around to share your wisdom with us ! Welcome !
That list is beautiful and masterfully played (although my predisposition causes me to believe you need more saurus knights)! Great job!!!
@Adam Trunzo I read a lot about skink with blowpipes and shields. Here I see your list and all of them got javelins. Please give us the light on the point ! How did you use them ? Are they just meat shields or did they do some damages ?
That's funny I even overlooked that when reading your list, I think because almost nobody uses javelins in big Skink units.
Also a new question pop’s up : Why did you choose a salamander rather than a razordon to invoque ? Sallies don’t have the range to shoot when cast.
My guess is that he summons it right away and gives opponent a choice : lose shooting for 40p target or let it be and risk a d6 + d3 potential out of nowhere. Works fine as a mind threat imo
