While exploring a local charity shop today, I spotted one of the old Star Trek Playmates figures, from the Next Generation, that was brand new in packaging and had never been opened, priced at a bargain £3. Normally I would have snapped it up like a shot to give it a home with my Star Wars figures, as the Playmates figures seem to have a pretty good number of PoA, but one thing stopped me - the figure was of Wesley Crusher, which was a real shame. If it had been Captain Picard, Worf, Data or any character from DS9 or Voyager I would have happily bought it, especially at such a good price, but alas it was my least favourite character from the whole franchise. :( It would have been like buying an Ahsoka figure purely because it was from an older Star Wars figure line with so much better articulation than the current regular line - in fact I think the fact that it was Wesley is the reason why it was in a charity shop for £3 rather than being sold to a Star Trek figure collector online for so much more than that due to it being NIB.

Ah well, better luck next time - I did find that Plo Koon figure from 2011 that I told you about and I opened him recently. Certainly wasn’t disappointed - great amount of articulation, removable cold-weather gear and another battle game card and dice that were so common in figures from 2011-2012 - a fine addition to my collection!

Was looking around a retro/collectibles/antiques shop today and found this chap, BNIB:

A Naboo Royal Guard from the line produced when Episode I was first released, all the way back in 1999. This figure is almost as old as I am, yet he’s survived in mint condition. Guess how much I paid for him? A mere £7!

So pleased with this figure - the figures in those days were still 5PoA like the old 70s and 80s figs and more recently those made since 2014, but the great thing about these ones is that they are pre-posed, so you can still put them in an epic battle pose, compared to the old Kenner and post-2014 figures which can’t. I have a Qui-Gon from the same line, but he was repackaged as part of a battle pack with a young Obi-Wan, Darth Maul and 2 Battle Droids (which was a great set nevertheless), so this is my first figure directly from the old Episode I line!
