I'm curious what the reason for that is, cuz that's a rather massive drop. And simply the fact that shooting is changed and they'l "suffer" most from it doesn't come close to explaining that large a drop. Perhaps to counterbalance summoning becoming free?

At least they're not battleline. Though I do think that skinks should get some love if they lose their 1 unique ability.

Also, there's 1 thing I really don't like about the new shooting rule. It makes "skirmisher" units that charge in and can then shoot at an opponents backline impossible. E.g. terradon riders with javalins are by no means dangerous at range, but their javalins where enough of a threat to force squishy support heroes to keep some distance. That'l no longer be possible, and kind of invalidates the use of javalins on terradons as that was their main advantage over the bola's. That's kind of a shame.

    lore-wise there's two options.

Either a) you pick one of the seraphon groups that's become permanent and sorta "settled" somewhere like @Wazz mentions. Or b) we're seraphon we go where we please and thus get to pick whatever we want as we don't have a fixed base.

Actually the Thunderers have had this ability since the came out as a friend pointed out to me. Even though theirs says retreats and ours doesn't. Blew my mind lol. All the K.O. players in my meta just want to run ships so I've never seen them haha.

To be fair, those were really overpriced

Well I don't have the book and never heard my opponent complaining, if they were overpriced for what they are then it is a nice update then
I might just have bad luck when I fight them haha

The gunhauler was 220 pts for a 10 wounds vessel with a pityful save 5+ and a cannon with range 18".
We have blowpipes with range 16"...

A gun that has -2 rend and D6 damage or -3 rend and 3 damage + an additional D3 mortal wounds on a 6+. It's not exactly a terrible cannon.
Also it is surrounded by floating mines causing mortal wounds to anything getting close.

And then it still has its carabines and melee weapons.

And lastly it can protect nearby bigger ships by absorbing wounds. Especially this last one seems particularly usefull.

imho 220 points isn't exactly terrible for the model... especially considering it's a supporting vessel.

That cannon still hits what? half of the time? It's a flying cannon with not exceptional precision, mounted on a "soft" chassis, that shoots at 18": basically, to shoot at something, you must fly dangerously near the target. The floating mines aren't that great neither... I don't remember if there's just a chance to inflict d3 mw (a price that i would gladly pay to charge the flying pot with my 10 knights).

Don't misunderstand me: it's not bad, I possess 2 model of gunhauler, but 220 for a supporting unit isn't cheap. At least, IMO.

An actual cannon is already a 180 points and the only advantages it has is that it can shoot further and can get an extra shot in as long as it has 2+ crew. Given the fairly significant amount of other advantages 220 doesn't seem particularly overpriced. So I'm curious why it dropped by ~30% as opposed to say ~10% to 200.

I’m thinking its a combination of a few things:

    Overpriced a little
General points drop across the realm
    Shooting a bit nerfed
A little buff to KO, which dont have magic

Possibly: new battalion? With a fleet of many of them?

Ah, yes, that price reduction is probably on the opposite side: too much!

The new episode of the Stormcast podcast (not linking because I can't decide which of the bewildering array of places it's available to pick) reveals a lot about the Endless Spells. There will be a box of 13 models. They'll cost points in Matched Play, some as few as 20-40. It's only 15 minutes long, but there are several nuggets like that sprinkled through.

I don't like that they put that in a podcast.. is there a transscript of the podcast somewhere so I can skip through the annoying talky-bits I don't care for easily? I don't want to listen through 15 minutes of nonsense to get to the 3 sentences I want to hear..

Also… sigh… stupid.. freaking... points.. we literally just moved away from them in summoning. Do we at least get to cast em as much as we want and on as a many wizards as I want? E.g. I pay 20 points to be able to cast the spell, but once paid I can cast it as much as I want (or well.. as much as the rule of 1 would allow) Or do we have to pay 20 points per cast?

I've just listened to it for a minute and heard an interesting thing:
One of the new spells with models is a wall that blocks shooting.
Might be the crystal wall we've seen in that one picture.

@Canas I have a feeling it will be per cast like it was with the Balewind. I hope I am wrong though!

According to the podcast we'll have to pay for the endless spells during roster creation, sooooo that alters previous reinforcement points.

The answer to most of our questions about Endless Spells is the same as the answer to most of our questions about Second Edition in general. We don't know yet.

I think the way they're dispensing and dispersing information across multiple media (Community articles, Facebook posts, now this podcast) is interesting, if, yes, sometimes frustrating. Not everybody has the time or physical plant to comb through all of that. On the other hand, we're well into the 21st century now, and social media and podcasts are a big thing. A big CHEAP thing when it comes to spending advertising dollars (everything we're seeing officially from GW is, at bottom, an advertisement).

I'm more or less sanguine about the information delivery. If I miss something, somebody else will catch it and post about it here or on the Grand Alliance community. That said, I'm also, day by day, growing less interested in obsessively hitting refresh on the open tab that houses the Community page in my browser. The longer they go with no Seraphon news, the more I'm inclined to just wait until the new books come out and see what is actually what.

It is called "Prismatic Palisade" it seems.

Also they said most of them will be 20-30 points worth on the army roster.

Wish I could see that "table to right!" And no mention of how Engine of the Gods figures in, if it does. Maybe something specific that will be on their updated warscroll?
