April Painting Challenge - 200+ points

Still staring at the pile of skinks that I need to finish.

Damn man, that's industrious. I'm trying to figure out how many *days it will take me if I highlight each scale on the stegadon. ...

*weeks

Haha, yeah, I always think those big models will be a quick way to make up points, then it takes me forever to paint them. Last big model I painted was a Trygon and after adding it up, it took me some 35 hours to go from opening the box to finished product!

Anyway, my 'nids are done all except their bases. They could use another highlight, but I might do that later down the track. So far this month...

1 Carnifex
1 Zoanthrope
7 Genestealers
5 Hormagaunts

After painting those I'm well and truly sick of Tyranids and will probably flip flop to yet another army :D Was planning on doing another 3 Stealers, had them basecoated and all, but I'll just put them on the shelf for now.

Well looks like you've hit the 200+ points mark. Challenge == Complete

I haven't started on my Cold One Riders yet, but I did finish 36 Saurus! Can I enter those instead? Lol.

I totally forgot that I ordered 24 Hormagaunts from the US and they arrived today (they cost $48 for 12 out here compared to $23 for 12 from the US, even after you add shipping it's massively cheaper). So maybe I'll paint another dozen Hormagaunts this week, just glued them all together.

I have been procrastinating the entire month. Tonight though, I did paint 154 skink eyes and 40 or 50 tounges (skink open mouth). They eyes got a green base then a red dot.

I do not know if I can get them based by next week, but I should be able to finish the painting.

for anyone else like me that isn't going to get this done, post a picture of what you did manage anyway :D
I did about 90% of a salamander, and 30% of a stegadon :P

I don't think I'm gonna get the bases of my 'nids done by the end of this month. I'm still tossing up exactly how to base them and haven't decided.

It's actually been a really productive painting month for me, at the start I thought I'd struggle to paint 200pts because I was so busy at work, but then being busy at work has meant I haven't been going out much and instead spend a couple of hours painting to take a break.

The start of the month was really slow for me as I hadn't really settled on the exact steps for my colour scheme and I realised I had to cut all the saurus arms and reposition them to get the shields in the position I wanted. The last week has been really productive though, the colour scheme is final and I can produce Saurus Warriors at a good pace. It's still a lot to do in just five days with two nights paintblocked by social stuff.

I agree, the word fits in so many situations. I am hoping to get some work done on my skinks Friday and Saturday, but I do not know what my wife has planned for us Saturday.

I didn't get to make an april pledge, and there are but a few days left, but I'm going to see if I can paint 200+ points of Saurus warriors in the next few days. We shall see!

One week left, one week left... haven't done any work in two weeks... I too have been decidedly paintblocked by social requirements. Not to mention I need to do laundry...

Didn't get nearly as many Orks done as i wanted - so i flip flopped halfway through and decided paint some of my Daemons. Finally got the Horrors done last night, seemed to take me forever but i'm really happy with them. So I've got 4 days to get 6 Bloodletters done. Fingers crossed the kids will leave me enough time this weekend!

Finished! Pictures will be in my paintlog soon.

All told I painted 22 Hormagaunts, 7 Genestealers, 1 Carnifex and 1 Zoanthrope for the month. Way more than I was expecting, almost 500pts, but the only things I got based were the 7 stealers :( I had way more painting time that I expected I would have when work made me too busy to go out and socialise :D Also got half way through painting a Broodlord, 3 more stealers and 8 more Hormagaunts, probably a good day or weekend's worth of work to finish them off.

Will post up some pictures later, I'm under the pump to get a report finished first.

Here are two shots of the finished models:

It started out as 77 skinks. For some reason, one has wandered off. I will put more pics in my paintlog as well.

Wow, impressive number of skinks to paint in just 1 month. Too bad they don't rank up, its one of my pet hates for many GW models.

Yea, it takes some work to get them to line up. Even then, they do not do it that well. Putting Krox in there will help with the first and the rank behind the kroxigors.

Yep got myself bits and pieces done but not enough to submit a 200 point block.

My biggest acomplisment was to final step up and try dipping some models in army painter quick shade. Overall it went really well.

Except I found out my Cha'lax model wasn't glued to his base so when I start swinging it with a pair of pliers to drain off the excess laquer I smashed him into a half dozen pieces on a concrete floor.

ooohh... Makes me cringe just reading about your Chakax incident. My heart goes out to you. :depressed:

My progress on all my cold one riders has been very slow. Fortunately I have indeed completed over 200 points of models, albeit they aren't what I originally proposed. Nevertheless, I'll post a few pictures tonight.
