Wow, they really are just taking a bunch of things that should either be White Dwarf articles (which costs $10 to buy, so it's not like it would be free) or part of the rulebook to begin with.

It reminds me of DLC that you just KNOW was coded as part of the actual game and then held out because some marketing genius knew customers would buy the $60 video game at first even if it had less stuff in it, and then shell out $10 at a time for the stuff that was supposed to be in the game to begin with.

Well at least the $2 for this expansion is cheaper than a White Dwarf.

not to play the necromancer card, as this threads death is justified, but today and tomorrow is the last WHFB scrolls for December, today being the scenario "Blood and Snow" and tomorrow will be "scrolls of binding" (still crosses my fingers).

anyone is planning to get today's release and care to share if its worth anything?

Ok, so I lied. I can provide a little detail right now.

Blood in the Snow is a new Battleline based scenario. Basically take Battleline and make the following weather induced changes:

    Winter Weather Table:
    1) movement is reduced to -1 and a tornamdo appears (semi-remains-in-play)M2)
    2) lightning strikes. All units on the table must take a lightning test (think Animosity here)
    3) all units suffer Iceshard Blizzard.
    4) non-flaming shooting gets nerfed, hard! Flaming shooting still works, but is no longer flaming.
    5) longer range shooting is harder to hit with.
    6) the weather changes every player turn.

Casting values for Lore of Life are +2/Lore of Heavens are -2
Any wizard that knows spells from then Lore of Heavens also knows the spell Storm of Caller Cast. This allows said wizard to change the weather by D3 points.

All in all this could be a lot of fun if you don't mind adding another element of randomness to your games. I may have to use this scenario tomorrow (if the game actually happens that is).

Have anyone bought Scrolls of Binding Compendium and wants to comment a bit? The price is a bit steep but if it is official and you don't have to ask permission to use it, it may well worth it.

They highlight the troglodon, I bet that version is better than the one in our book.

Yep, Storm of Magic supplement. I like SoM quite a bit (it is my preferred game type, though I don't get to play it very often), so I paid the ridiculous price. The included scrolls are Mournfangs, Thunder Tusk, Stone Horn, Jabberslythe, Great Cave Squig, Terradons, Ripperdactyls, Troglodon, Bastilodon, Kharibdyss (with notes/special rules from the terradons. I swear, the QC on this entry is terrible), Flamespyre Phoenix and Frostheart Phoenix. The LM monsters tend to be a bit cheaper here because they do not have any riders or the associated abilities that riders confer. For example, the bastilodon does not have the Ark of Sotek or the Solar Engine. It is also 22.5 skaven slaves cheaper than in our army book.

There are different kinds of Winds of Magic, the Life winds (Can't remember the term) is weaker in the Winter and Strong in Spring. This is consistent with the Empire fluff for their Life Wizards.

    @rychek -
Without breaking forum rules, can you tell us something about the Troglodon? It seems to me that darn near everything about it is specific to Lizardmen, so I'm not sure what it could offer to other armies.

It should be interesting to see what GW thinks the Roar an the Vassal are worth. Whatever it costs without those two rules should let us do some math.

Vassal is not included as there is no rider. The rest of the rules are the same as appear in the Army Book for 85 ss. It's not any better (mostly worse) for other armies, IMO.

That's funny. So, it still has the Roar that lets PF models do better...but no army other than Lizardmen can possibly use that. Oh, GW, you funny, funny people.

Hmm. This gives me a little insight into how I use the Troglodon in my own army. As I've said in other threads, I don't use a Slann in my armies, which means the Arcane Vassal rule never comes into play. It would seem I have been paying about 30 points extra for a rule I cannot possibly use (the +1Ld never comes up because he's always in range of my general).

    Interesting.
