I think you need to include more of the bone colour for the theme as a 3 colour theme as nice as the spikes uve done I think trying one model where they are bone coloured and a few other elements on the model might help (just my opinion) also the second picture would be a great reference for a sculptor to make a model of that beasty beast (id buy one tbh)
 
Saurus belly and under chin cream, skin mid blue and scales dark orange, with the orange highlight with a light orange then yellow and then wash with a orange to bring the colour back, blue and cream same but you won't need to bring the cream back.
 
If you look at these I painted very quickly, belly is cream and skin, scales blue, you just want to do the scales orange.

Some dude did a 3D print of Tetsucabra which is pretty nice, the original concept for him was based on Sumo wrestling



@Crowsfoot Yeah that looks similar to what I'd want, i'm thinking of maybe a more dark blue with really extreme highlights, regal blue then ice blue (or whatever the names are this week :P)

Do your colours like base, wash, highlight then do spot highlights in almost white with a spot of the desired colour on the extreme edges, like this look at the knuckles etc.

Ah thanks I thought it might be an Army painter one, i've been using their black primer but i'm not sure if I prefer the GW one.

For black, white and grey use an automotive primer, Hycote or similar, goes on better.

If anyone ever needs inspiration for colours by the way you could do worse then Monster Hunter. There's some great design and colour work in those games. Just a few examples below if you'll indulge me!

I spend far too much time playing Monster Hunter clearly, but I thought Lizardmen enthusiasts would appreciate these :)
 
He's one of the 'flagship' monsters of the new game, I've been playing the Japanese version because I couldn't wait for the western release. I think the western name for him is Glavenus or something.
 
It's sweet I don't get to play nearly as many video games as i'd like due to money even on steam I get them cheap but don't have many :)
 
OK two things

1. Love the last image Ill try that with one of my models

2. Humble bundle is a grate way to get a bunch of games off for cheep. Last month I got all of the versions of total war. And dawn of war 1/2 only 13 usd. Also got a few other games
 
Yeah +1 for humble bundle, also Tigrex is a great monster, lots of source pics on google. :)
