WiP Salemander part 2

Im back from Turkey and startet stroking the brushes right away.

I worked the skin a bit, highlights of different green (mostly blends of skull white and Catachan Green) and started with different blues on the "fire-bladder" (?!?!)

I got to admit i never plan for the skin to come out this exact way, but i like it quite alot and i'll try to do the same on my future lizards i guess. What do you think about it? Im planning on making some of the scales blue aswell, how do you guys think of that?

Next up: Eyes, claws and spikes.

Laters!

Salemander Finished

the stuff on the base is surposed to be an unluky skinhandler... or the remains after some nasty burns!

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: Salemander Finished!

I really like the green and red contrast you have there. Nice looking salamander and the bruning pile of remains on the base looks really cool!

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: Salemander Finished!

Im currently working on a second saurus warrior unit, thats why I havent updated the log for some time.

My next project will be a second 50x50mm saurus warrior unitfiller. I'll update as soon as i get started ;)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: Salemander Finished!

Very nice! I can't believe I didn't see this thread until just now. I love the contrasting colors you're using. Keep it up!

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: Salemander Finished!

Excellent work. I love the dark feeling of this army.

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: Future Conflict

Future Conflict

I sat around thinking earlier today and realized i dont got a future color plan for my skinks, krox etc. Im not sure wether i'd like to copy the scheme from the Saurus or come up with something different. I really like to keep every aspect of the army dark with a "twist" of orange, but im not sure how...

I now turn to you guys :D

Any toughts?

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: Salemander Finished!

I believe that painting skinks, saurus and krox with the same colour scheme works, then the other less humanoid beast should be different schemes entirely. That is how most people make their armies.

The majority of my models will have a splash of orange on the though, so its fine to keep a bit of a recurring theme. To help tie the army together, a good idea is to paint the shields with the same colours as your bigger beasts, so it is like they got the scales for the shields from big creatures in your army. This makes each breed of lizard unique, but also ties the army together as one.

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: Salemander Finished!

Great idea.

I think ill go with that, thanks ;)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: Salemander Finished!

Yeah, its been a long time since I updated. But i finally got some time to work the lizards! (blame my studies and skyrim :D )

This is a 50x50 4 saurus unitfiller for my 2nd warrior unit. Again, we got a handler and some sort of jungle wurm, only this time the wurm has gone underground.

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update 20/7: new unitfiller!

Mate your skills are amazing, and you definitely have an eye for color keep it up I like where your army is headed :)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update 20/7: new unitfiller!

That's a very nice unit filler! Is the serpents body from the DE hydra or is custom built?

I love how unit fillers can give a unit a great sense of character, I'm working on one of my own for my saurus unit.

Its a tail piece from a black dragon. They only work i did on it was to bend it.

Yeah, I love the idea of unit fillers, aslong as they are dynamic.

Show me yours! ;)

I just posted it in my paintlog ;)

Yeah, I'm with you on that. Just putting one guy on a big base to maximize your unit is just plain boring and lazy IMO. I feel that a unitfiller should be a mini diorama to add character o an army. Just rank and file can be so boring sometimes.

That you get some extra models for your hard earned cash is just a bonus!

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update 20/7: new unitfiller!

That looks awesome.

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update 20/7: new unitfiller!
