Thanks alot guys:)

Running out of bits and still new to lizardmen, i'd like to know witch boxset packs the most shinny spare bits for my future projects? Anyone? ;)

I'd say the temple guards and the stegadon kit.

Well I have to say those look quite good, I really like all the tarnished and dirty metal,
Yea the Orangy shield look pretty good with this paint scheme.

The only improve improvement I can think of is maybe give the scales a thin wash of some sepia for a hint of color and warmth.

Btw, I'v started doing just that, and it really works. Thanks alot ;)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update 20/7: new unitfiller!

Nothing really happening, because im out of models...

Santa better bring me some! ;)

My wishlist:

- Steg
- Kroh Gar
- Bat. box
- Skinks

I feel like painting something big next!

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update 20/7: new unitfiller!

Santa came though :D

Got myself a bat box, steg, kroh gar and some TG's.

I started working on the steg yesterday. I went with strewart's suggestion on color scheme (Thanks ;) ). Primed it black, worked the two first skin layers and now im working on the scales.

This is how i looks so far:

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: STEGAJOHN!

BRILLIANT!

Will you make normal "bone" color on the horns and spikes?

Yeah, I'll go for some bleach bone stribes on brown. Just like the horns on your avatar pic. I'll work on it as soon as my hangover lets me ;)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: STEGAJOHN!

Very nice looking stegadon you got there! :)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards - Update: STEGAJOHN!

Thanks ;)

News on the steg. I worked the third skin layer, scales and horns. The pic aint to good, sorry.

Im not sure i like the scales, but i like the way the last layer of highlights came out. Feels good painting something els than Saurus' :)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards. Update: STEG- Skin highlights

very promising :)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards. Update: STEG- Skin highlights

I must say that I really like the turquoise color of your ropes!

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards. Update: STEG- Skin highlights

How do you guys paint your scales?

Im still not sure i like the way they turned out. I might be inspirred by different techniques ;)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards. Update: STEG- Skin highlights

With the beast done i started with the platform. Here I turn to you guys! I'v painted some of the stuff on the base and kept the rest golden. The orange toad represents the slann (dah....), the blue are the flames in my army and the snake and lizard represent the greens of the humanoid troops.

My question to you guys: Should i paint more of the stuff on the base, or just keep it simple? ;)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards. Update: STEG- platform

I think that's personal taste. I like yours, very striking.

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards. Update: STEG- platform

that is BEAUTIFUL! very simple, but yet so striking! i wouldnt change a thing tbh. super eager to see it all finished :D

EDIT: ok, maybe a little bit more of an edge highlight to the green, but thats it ;)

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards. Update: STEG- platform

Yeah I agree, that platform looks great as it is!

Re: Dark Muddy Yet Shinny Lizards. Update: STEG- platform

I appreciate all the replies ;)

I stuck with the simple platform. Im working the sides of the platform.

Finished the left side, took me all bloody night.... What you guys think? Im worried that there isnt enough contrast between the steg and platform?

Looks like this:

Let me know if im spamming useless minor updates, but im finding it very interesting to spare with you guys alonge the way to gain the best possible result ;)

Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update: STEG - Platform Sides

Looks good! And the more updates the better imo. I might've tried to work some dark green in there somewhere (maybe on the shield scales, or the platform's cloth 'railings') for a bit of extra contrast. I really the lighting/wear effect on the cloth railings, though. What colours did you brush on?

Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update: STEG - Platform Sides

Yeah, that might just work. Ill try to paint the shields green. The cloth railings is based with catachan green, and highlighted with different mixes of catachan green and skull white ;)

Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update: STEG - Exams.

Im quite bussy with exams atm, but hopefully i can sneak off to do some painting soon ;)
