Blog Birthing a New Army

Just came across this. Really like the method for painting gold! It looks a lot more "real" with a bit of wear and tear than the regular gold method. I'll be using this for my Bastiladon as well in a few months!

Soooo, I have been busy lately and have shamefully had to put hobbies on hold.

I did have a spot of time to splap together and convert some warriors into guard one night. I even got a quick mock up of the color scheme even though I am changing it up almost immediately

Very rough draft, but I will probably use the same colors for the skin but change over to a dark dark blue or black for the scales.

Aww that's a shame - I kinda like the rainbow Temple guard look :D new scheme sounds cool though!

And a quick WIP of the one of the projects keeping me from hobbying right now...

Agreed! I really wanted for them to pop like Mardi Gras in Rio, and I am still hoping to get some of that effect out of it, buuut the eyes wander a bit too much when you look at the model. I will probably need sketch up a few drafts before I throw paint on anything, aaand I will definitely have the color scheme return on vanilla saurus warriors if I don't use it on the guard ;)

Great work on these, do you care to eleborate on the converting?
What bits did you use/add to make them?

Thanks in advance

Amazing color scheme on that slann; awesome how you made all those colors work on the same model!

Soooooo, I hot glued the palanquin to a jar as a grip, aaaaand it popped off and fell onto the floor.

Fortunately I have foam matts on the floor around my workspace, but it still took a bit to glue it back together and repaint the damaged spots. I will never underestimate the weight of a metal model again! Still made some progress, and I even discovered the fact that there is a fricken skull hiding in the side of it!

Just need to paint all the critters now and decide if it needs any gold filigree. Oh and the tusks! This might still be awhile.

A have only one advice: Poster putty for you, my friend :)

Seriously, I use it even to transport models home and while my tin can bounces in my car, models are solid rock. Plus it is reusable, I´ve had three packages mixed together to single ball from which I nibble away when I need to hold models during painting and I use them for last 4 years.
