Black Coating

Hello guys, i have some questions for you. Recently i buyed a couple of used miniatures aldready undercoated with black paint. Since i'm new both to warhammer and painting miniatures, do you have any suggestions? i've seen some painting tutorial that suggest white primer, can i spray white primer upon black one? Help me

It's usualy easier for beginers to work off of a black basecoat.
(Unless you where planing on painting them bright yellow or something like that.)

Really? i thought could be easier to paint bright colours working off a white basecoat, especially for lizardmen, thank you anyways. However... is it possible to spray a white prime upon it or it would end up in a mess?

White primer over black is fine, but may take a couple of coats. Black for a new painter is more forgiving for anything but bright colours because of a technique called 'black lining' where you leave thin lines of black between different colours. It adds very easy shading, though nowadays washes and inks do just as well!

Edit: be careful if it's your first time with spray paint btw, spray from at least 30cm away and in short bursts, allowing each layer to dry before adding another, and shake the can well before painting.

Actualy if you are set on priming them white, you might consider just seting out the whole batch an just giving them a dusting from the top, this gives you instant light/dark shading.

I generally let spraypaint sit for 10 mins. Brushed on paint for base coat and layers is usually the same, straight from the pot, but depends if you water it down and how old the paint is. Washes depend very much on how much you're using, but you can tell they're dry when they're no longer shiny and, for lack of a better word, wet.
