Starting the tread as I wait for my first box of skinks to arrive. Going from scratch, so roughly three phases: Assembly Priming (waiting for nice weather outside to do so) Painting Still debating on whether to do something with the bases, like glue on a layer of sand and paint it for some grit, or Green Stuff additions.
Welcome and I'm looking forward seeing how you develop. Skinks are great start, as they are really easy to build and paint.
i highly recommend green stuff! Green Stuff World actually have a really nice rolling pin i use for basing
I do both. Not exactly with greenstuff rollers, but I have old boardgame Tzolkin. It has nice ornamented gear that I slapped some blue stuff onto to make mold. When I need more basing, I put some milliput onto it and then crack it and use it as ruins on my bases.
My Skinks have arrived! Assembly to be started! box took a beating, but everything looks to be in good shape
Not terribly so, but it's definitely an older printing of the box. Let me know if I can help with color or technique choices.
Much delayed (after having learned to paint via necrons and Space marines), I finally have my first primed batch of 14 skinks, cohort style. Just waiting for it to cool down around me so I don't need to blast a fan on myself while i paint!
First batch all blue now. A few hours of light blue layering worked pretty well. Originally tried Waggh Flesh and Ultramarine blue, just ended with a similar dark blue to Ultramarine. Corax White + Ultramarine blue produced the light blue I was looking for. Looking forward to detail work during the week.
