Don't think you are allowed to have a skirmishing skink unit that big anyway. (what is the limit anyway, like 15 or 20 ???)
In the last few games that I have played, I actually use 20 cohorts(with javelin) instead of skirmishers. Granted, they cannot shoot after a march, but they serve basically the same purpose in my army(but do not suffer from the negative modifiers). I just never take skirmishers any more. My primary problem with them is that I forget and march them within 6 inches for the short range, then I cannot stand and shoot.
Spend the 1pt for the upgrade for javs on your skirmishers and they can stand and shoot. You also get the 6+ AS and 6+ parry save as well.
Since blowpipes is only for skirmishers, this will never be the case though? Or would it be, that if I have a unit of 6 Chamelion skinks placed this: C-C-C -C-C-C I will only get the 3(6) blowpipe shots from the front? And in order to use the full unit 6(12), I should place them?: C-C-C-C-C-C
Might check the entry for srirmishers in the big rule book, I believe if one is in range they are all in range...? also check the rules on line of sight...
True, but I just do not feel like I can get the most from them. I would rather take full command on the unit of cohorts ranked 2x10. With the base BS being 3 on the skinks, it's just not worth it to me. I would rather have the chance of having a rank.
If your placing your skirmishers in your opponents frontal arc then I hope you're using them to redirect, otherwise your not using them to their full potential (in my opinion anyway). Get these guys in the flanks and rears of your opponents' units and keep them within 6" to make full use of those 3.3 wounds a turn
Unless you put them in front of some big nasty Then shoot away and wait for him to charge to shoot again And I owe myself a facepalm... I was looking at the 7th edition rulebook and was like, wow, 1 pt per model for the scout special rule?? Why isn't anyone doing this?!?! Basically cheap Chameleons!! Then I realized something was wrong when Saurus had a 6+ Scaly Skin... whoops! Skinks are like our little Wood Elf models.. As Wolf said, redirect with them, or stick them on the flanks to fire away at a good 'safe' distance
