8th Ed. Brand new to lizards and want to get to 2250

Hi guys Iam brand new to lizards and introduced myself in introductions already.

So far this is what I have

Got these in trade

slann
stegodon
ancient stegodon
skink chieftain
terradon x2
temple guard
Saurus cavalry box

What should I buy next to build an good 2250 list? I was thinking a few battalion boxes, but unsure

Salamanders and some Chameleons.

and should they be skinks or stalkers for the chameleon?

On second thought get the army book next.
then get some more models.

Ps. at least 3 salamanders and 5 chameleons.

Yeah I just started army building too. I would say try to build a Unit of Skinks with Kroxigors, count as core and very useful.

What n810 said, but remember he said saurus and skinks first. These are our core units and you need these in the list before you can add much else.

Maybe one battalion box depending on how many temple gaurd you have (20 is about standard, or 26). Get two and you'll be far over 2250 without even getting a lot the all star lizardmen units like, salamanders, and camo skinks. You're gunna have a rough time fitting what you already do have in 2250pts after adding 25% of core. You'll probably have to trim the fat a little. Esp if you plan to add some salamanders (which you'll want).
You have to have at least 3 terradons. And a stegadon with great bow is kinda poopy. So you can do without those and add some skinks, saurus, and sallies. IMO Cold one Cav are so overpriced and not worth it. I own 25+ of them things and wouldn't consider running more than 10 at 2500pts and under. Another downside to getting the battalion IMO.

PS. He says "get the book" because a stalker is a unit of chameleon skinks' unit champion. It's not a second type of chameleon skink. You can only have one in the unit. And it's only stat bonus is +1 to BS. Just like any other ranged unit's champion, just like a skink brave in the skirmishers.
