AoS Campaign with increasing points-now 2500

Oh, that puts a hitch in the plan to punish them with battleshock...

Oof. I would still suggest going for punishing with battleshock.
Arguably Andreas saurian or carnosaur
:D

The battle vs vermins ended with a very bitter defeat, 25-24 pts, with me rolling thrice a 2 for the roll to see the turn.
In the last 2 turns I was able to vaguely compete just because of summons and teleport, and in one case it costed me 5 points… but the truth is that it all boils down to the fact that our army is terribly outdated.

A Slann costs 260 pts. Casts 3 spells or summons.
A Verminlord Warpseer costs 260 pts. Casts 2 spells (one of them for d6 MW and halves move), it's a combat monster that comes with 12 pts, a save 4+ rerollable and feel no pain 5+.

40 skinks cost 240 pts.
40 plague monks cost 240 pts. They do 120 Attacks that hit at 4+ rerollable, each 6 at a rend -1, and and each 6 to wound does double damage. they can do mortal wounds to a nearby unit and can do mortal wounds when killed in cc. And this by themselves, naked, without any external support, and without loss of bonuses when reduced in numbers.

an army with this kind of power, even if severely crippled by an Alpha strike, can still play the game and win, simply because their units are much more powerful then ours. This is the kind of handicap we're currently playing with.

Thats true, but the fact that all our units can be teleported and also be summoned means that our units have to be a little more pricey for what would seem like the same stats. But the way you put it it does seem pretty extreme. Its definitely no secret that more modern codexes are tougher than the older ones haha.

But it goes to show how viable we are, that even so outmatched (as far as codex power goes), you were able to keep the score so close!!

Ouch... sorry to hear that. What’s next up for you or is this the tournament end?

we should have 3 omre rounds.

The next one will be 2.000 pts, i will go against Blades of Khorne or something khorne-related.

The list played by my next opponent in the last round:

Skarbrand
Bloodthirster
Bloodsecrator
Bloodstoker
3 x 20 Bloodreavers
2 x 10 Bloodreavers

Still don't know the battleplan, so I'm toying with some ideas…

Comments and suggestions would be appreciated. ;)

1st LIST - shooting thunderquake

thunderquake starhost 120
2 x bastiladon - 560
EotG 220
4 x razors + handlers 200

Slann 260
Astrolith 160

10 skinks 60
10 skinks 60
20 skinks 120

still 240 pts. Scarvet on carno? Stegadon? 2 x 3 Terradons?

Anyway, move toward the centre with my starhost and shoot everythin, screened by 20 skinks, use teleported steggy or scarvet.

2nd LIST - the dread summoner

Slann 260
2 x EotG 440
Dread Saurian 420
(balewind wortex 40)

Shadowstrike starhost 180
5 chama skinks 120
10 skinks 60
starpriest or priest 80
6 rippers 280

2 x 10 skinks 120

I don't know if i can really ripperstrike some deamon if they are screened, but I've got rippers and dread saurian so i should be able to create problems, while skinks and summoned units fill the gaps

3rd LIST - the eternal dread

Slann 260
2 x EotG / stegadon 440
Dread Saurian 420
starpriest or priest 80
(cronomantic cogs 60)

Eternal starhost 150
15 guards 270
2 x 5 guards 180
warden 140

Defensive buffs on dread by starpriest or priest, teleport and cause havoc, while guards control objectives. Shooting by steggies or MW / summons by EotG, must decide which i should field.

I would say for the first list go for the stegadon. A carnosaur doesn’t sync well with skinks (I do Saurus heavy). Your first round with the skinks went very well so there might be something there, however I’ve never had the terror of fighting a dread saurian so it might be potent in one of your lists.

However if you REALLY want to win, grab a dread saurian, or two, or three, or five. Then when the opponent looks away place them all on the table!

The only issues I have with the stegadon is that in Melee they get butchered by opponents. However they are excellent at massacaring hordes of foes, just try not to picture it ;)

One thing you could do is load up on cheap skinks then summon something big with cop such as a troglodon

ERRATA CORRIGE. This round will be at 1750 pts, with the limitations of 2000 pts armies.

so, if we're working on the thunderquake list, it could be:

1st LIST - shooting thunderquake

thunderquake starhost 120
2 x bastiladon - 560
EotG 220
4 x sallies + handlers 200

Slann 260
Astrolith 160

10 skinks 60
10 skinks 60
5 saurus K. 90

(endless spell: quicksilver swords 20 - playing against khorne, it's golden)

Looks pretty good. Remember to summon as many skinks as possible early game to keep some bodies between the slaan and enemy monsters. When it is the time summon a troglodon. Overall list looks good

Now i know the battleplan.
STARSTRIKE!

this should be good, as it gives me time to summon units to take control of the board in the last phases, when points will count.
Of course, there's the downside that also khorne will accumulate blood points with the units i plan to kill...
