Yeah, that's my favorite one too. Although, I'm afraid that this pic probably doesn't do it much justice. The cape actually looks like worn leather, and much of the armor is a dark bronze. But yeah, I prefer the first one too.

Well, here's a little something for your son then! I painted these up for a friend of mine last year around Christmas as a present. I left the basing up to him.

I've got a Thundertusk that I have to assemble and paint for him at my house. I'll work on that one after I finish a Screaming Bell for another friend.

Step 1 - Befriend Chicken Lips
Step 2 - Gather trust over several years
Step 3 - Hint at the model you want him to paint
    Step 4 - Wait.
Step 5 - Retrieve painted model as gift

Lol! That's usually the way I get people hooked in the game. Give them a little incentive to build, paint and play their new armies.

My River Trolls (I wanted to go with a bright, fish scheme with these instead of the muted green that you typically see since there is soooooo much green in the entire O&G army. I wanted them to stand out.).

So about a year ago, some friends and I played a narritave tournament among ourselves. One of the guys that was organizing it would make the random match-ups and based off what happened in the game and the results, he would write a short story based off the events and then use that to lead into the next match-up. That was how you'd discover who your next opponent was. Incredibly fun! The only thing he required, was a short story about the general of your army.

So I made Da Pale Orc. To make it short, he was shunned by all Orcs for "lookin' funny" and left to fend for himself since no tribe would accept him at a very early age. A Goblin Shaman had a vision (most probably mushroom-induced) from Mork (or possibly Gork) which told him that he'd find a boss that "looks funny" that would lead his tribe to many great battles. He happened across Da Pale Orc on one of his ventures out lookin' for a bit to eat. He brought him back to his Wolf Rider tribe where he was raised as one of their own. He grew quickly and showed much more intelligence than the average Orc. He soon started winning the tribe a great many victories and word spread about his growing Waagh! Other tribes began to flock to his banner. The world had met a new terror with a pale face...

Well I finished my second Warhawk Rider. 2 out of 3 done! This one was a bit trickier. I tried doing a lot of green stuff work on his wings to make them modeled a bit differently from the other one. I also tried giving a different head and arms for more variety. I also tried something a bit different on his base. I used some of the big leafs (the ones on the bottom) from the Glade Guard kit and I took some of the bits from the Duthru head and snipped off the "branch" pieces and fashioned them into a floral bush. I think it worked and turned out better than I had hoped! Let me know what you think!

I've always loved that model, it's my favorite in the entire Wood Elf range. You've definitely done it justice. Very nice!

Thank you! He has always been my favorite as well! When I first started Warhammer I was seriously debating between Empire and Wood Elves as my first army. I had quite a few Empire models from the 6th Ed. box set so I went with those, but that model was the one reason I had such a difficult time deciding between the two.
I eventually started my Wood Elves 4 armies and thousands of models later...

I suppose I can start posting my Empire now. There's plenty in this lot.

First off, my Luminark that I finished fairly recently.

Very nice work. The whole thing looks great, but the lenses are particularly stunning. How did you paint those?

I did each one separately before I assembled them, but I started with Temple Guard Blue, then a wash of Drakenhof Nightshade, then a drybrush of Temple Guard Blue, then a drybrush of a light blue edge paint that GW came out with a little while back, and finally a light drybrush of Ulthuan Grey. Each drybrush layer I layed on lighter and lighter until I finally was barely hitting it at all, focusing more and more toward the center.
