Blog Chicken Lips Warhammer Armies

Wow they look really good, the 2 I got of ebay look like your fire one but Im tempted to redo them now!

Love them :)

I like how the Ice Salamander gives a cool vibe, very nice

Thanks, guys! Ya'll give me motivation to keep going and producing! :D

I should finish my 30 skinks tonight, so I have my cold one and Scarvet/oldone next!

And 2 stegadons, a bassy, 2 slann priests, 2 skink priests, 20 warriors, 10 temple guard and loads of scenery and boards!!!

And then some conversions!!

Wow, sounds like you and I are pretty much in the same boat there, my friend!

Lets see...
I have 2 Stegadons, 3 Terradon Riders, 42 Saurus Warriors, 23 Temple Guard, 45 Skinks, 12 Chameleon Skinks, 12 Cold One Riders, Saurus BSB, Tetto'eko, Slann Mage Priest, Oldblood on Carnosaur, another Gor-rok (I'm thinking that I'll sell him on eBay after I paint him up - unless anyone wants to buy him from me here!), and another Scar Vet/Oldblood on foot, left to paint! Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I also try to work on a few pieces for my other 5 armies as well, but they are much farther along. (Lizardmen being my newest army.) *Phew!*

I know it's a lot, but I have been stockpiling my pieces to work on because my wife is pregnant with quadruplets! So basically there will be no more buying little plastic soldiers after they arrive (Which probably isn't very far away)! That's also another reason that I'm trying to get as much done now, as I can! :D

OMG you are not going to sleep for a good 12 months!!

I feel like Ice needs a little more contrast,
currently he feels more like snow.

@Crowsfoot: You know it! Oh, well.

@n810: Hmmm. What would you suggest? I'm afraid to put too much color on Ice because I don't want to take away from that "cold" feeling.

Maybe a blue wash on the fins and over the scales to help them pop and maybe make the claws darker were they meet the foot.

I thought about that, but I'm afraid that it would make too much of a contrast. This is a very delicate color to mess with. The shades can't be very different from one another before they really start to take on a two-tone look.

This example looks ok,
it still looks like Ice, but with more contrast,
you don't need this much color though,
and you would probably go with blue washes instead of green.
the final bright white highlight is really the key.

Hmmm. That's a good example. Gives me something to think about. Do you still think that it could work for the flexible skin portions as well as the scales? All of the edges and lines on that model are straight and hard cuts. Would it give off the same feel?

you could do a softer edge highlight on the skin folds along the belly and legs, and some harder highlight along the dorsal sail. Maybe even a thinned black wash in some of the darker cracks.

That's a good idea. I might try that. Thanks!

BTW, what's the difference between posting a thread with army pics here or in Itza's Gallery of Fine Arts?

Nice! That gives me a good idea. Looks like there was a purple wash used on it as well. It that one of yours?

The gallery is so we can all check each others similar models in one place (glamor shot of final product),
while a paint blog is for people following your progress.

actually I snagged a blue one of the internet

Ah, okay. So should I put this in the Gallery? I'm working on the units, but I don't really take very many WIP pics.

yea, you should post some to the gallery when you are done. :)
(it's nice to have your stuff here too)
