Blog Chicken Lips Warhammer Armies

I finished some Darkshards. I hope you like them! I'm coming close to completing all of the Dark Elves I have and I'm trying to think about how I want to base all of them. I know that I want a theme of a pirate army invading a coastal village, but I'm not sure exactly sure how to go about that. I plan on making the Kharibdis's appear to be coming out of the surf, but I'm not sure what to do with the rest. Any ideas?

Nice paint job!

What about sand, rocks and some pavements or a boardwalk? Then you could add some grass, robes, fishbone and stuff like that...

Those are all great ideas! For some reason, I'm having trouble seeing this one....:(

Oooo.... That's really nice! And yes! That was along the lines of what I was thinking. Maybe a few in the back ranks splashing through the water while the front ranks are on the sand. That would look totally cool on the Kharybdis's though.....

Could you do movement trays to look like ships coming a shore?

Well, I'm not done with the base of this Dark Elf Bolt Thrower, but that's on purpose. I want to do ALL of my DE bases at the same time so that they look alike. It will also be a rather large undertaking, so it'll take me a while to do it. Otherwise, it's finished and playable.

Nice basing. Now for the elves too...

Looks really awesome... do I see it right, that you used regular skinks as crew? ExcellentlExcellently positioned... I like how they are all attacking to the front...

This looks incredible! Really cool colour scheme! Brilliantly positioned skinks. Wonderful work!

Nice paint scheme indeed, I was thinking about doing something similar to this with my upcoming Stegadon as well.
...but brightly colored Stegadons look cool as well... so many options.

Wonderfully painted, and I like how you did the base like he is crossing a shallow creek.

Thanks, guys! I'm glad you like him!

Yes, those are regular skinks on his back. I bought it off eBay a couple of years ago and it didn't come with any skinks or equipment. I had to order the things like blowpipes and banners.

The hardest thing was positioning the blowpipes. I put them on the outside of the shields, which seems a bit counter-intuitive, but they pointed way out to the sides (and would inevitably be broken off at some point) and looked rather ridiculous like that.

Also, the left big (main) horn on his head was missing. I made one out of Green Stuff and tried to match it as closely to the shape of the other one and cut lines in it near the base. I think it turned out rather well!

The creek / watery theme is something that I like to put on a lot of my Lizardmen bases. I feel like it's something that seems rather "Lizardman-y". :p

I'm actually working on a second, Ancient Stegadon right now. This one will have the Skink Priest on his back and will be a much lighter color scheme. I hope you like this one as well!
