Blog Chicken Lips Warhammer Armies

Speaking of which, I worked last night on "Green Stuffing" this Dark Pegasus for my Dark Elves. I drilled and set a magnet in it's back so that I can have the option to swap my Supreme Sorceress and Dreadlord out with the Black Dragon. Forgive my Green Stuff work. I'm not very good at it. I plan on magnetizing it to a flight stand as well.

So I've been toying with various ideas about what type of base I want to go with on my Dark Elves and I think that I've come to a solution.
I found this tutorial and really liked the results.

I've never tried anything quite like this so it'll be an experiment for me. I've ordered a jar of the Distress Crack Paint Rock Candy. Does anyone have any experience using this or something like it?

Also, has anyone ever used a Clear Epoxy for Water Effects before? What type/brand did you use and do you have any helpful advice?

Yeah, I'm going to practice with it on some cardboard like the tutorial suggests first. I suppose it'll largely depend on how liquid this stuff is. If it's consistency is closer to water, then I'll have to devise a way to contain it on the top of the base. If it's thicker, then I might be able to work with a little more freedom.

It's the clear epoxy that I'm really unsure about. I have no idea what kind to get. There's a lot of variations out there apparently.

Mostly look for how thick you can pour it while still having it cure.
some you can only do in 1/8" pours at a time with like a 24 hour cure time before you can add another layer,
others you can do like 4 inches with an 8 hour cure time...

also beware that most epoxies shrink a little as they cure.

Ps. maybe get an account over at Reaper to ask those guys more question about their experiences.

I've also started working on a set of Unicorns for my daughters someday. (I'll have to give them SOME incentive to play with me!)

Meet Frank and Lisa!

This is their inspiration:

I've got a third that I'm also working on and it'll be painted like one of these:

Which one do you think I should go with? On one hand, the colorful one would fit with the others. The other hand, I'm more likely to use this model as a mount for my caster and it will be magnetized, so...

Make the third one so you can use it in games

Lol, Ballerina on flying Unicorn manning a Gatlin Gun! Love it! I bet the Gatling Gun shoots rainbow farts!

On a side note, I have considered getting those Woolys as a cheaper Squig alternative. I'm still up in the air about that though.

I love that he posted the conversations with his kids that led to these creations.

Lol, that's perfect! I didn't even read it the first time! I think that's exactly how most of the conversations in our house are going to go. Okay, now I have to get one of those. This guy knows how to appeal to Daddys....
