My Irondrakes are primed and I have the unit champ painted. Just 9 more to go!

Cool beans.

My only issue is that they look very dark. The paint scheme I mean. So things like beards and flesh get muted into the armor

Personally, I like the dark look. It makes better aesthetic sense in terms of Dwarfs living underground.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was going for. I wanted to stick to earth tones (seeing as how they mostly dwell in the earth) as much as possible, as well as metallics. The usual bright blues and greens that so many use, just don't feel very "Dwarvy" to me. Meh, to each his own.

The dark bronze (Tin Bitz actually) is to set the unit apart from the rest of the standard metallic colors as well as represent their "Forge-Proven Gromril Armor". The red is my main army color, so each model has at least some representation of it on their body, and the gold is highlight. If you put them up next to other units, (Dark Grey for Longbeards, Standard Metal for Ironbreakers, Dark Red for Hammerers, and other similar color schemes for other individual units, it works rather well.

As far as the beard colors, I mix 'em up. Just so happens that this guy is the only one who's beard is actually showing. I didn't over think it and just went with back that is slowly turning grey (indicating his age and experience).

I like that concept and you were successful in its application because that was immediately the impression it gave me.
