Blog Children of Qukai'Huan - Update: Carnosaur painted

Ohhhh I am realy digging the Jurasic Park paint job. :smug:

@Old Mossy: Thanks! Based on your recommendations I added some more tufts and static grass to the base. The pupils are painted, they're just really small and squinty.
He has indeed some sort of horn decoration on his nose.

@n810: Glad you like it!

As promised here are some better pictures. I also added some saliva strings with UHU glue.

Also the oldbloods weapon hand is magnetized so I can swap it.

Now thát is one bad-ass Carnosaur!

I think your opponents simply can't shoot at it the first turn, because it is so scary/awesome. You could house-rule that :P

No really, it looks great.

1 point of criticism, if I may? The shield looks a bit small...

Awesome looking Carnosaur, I really dig the realistic paint scheme! I think this is your best work so far. Could we get some close-ups of an area where the colours change from darker to white? Like the neck? I'd be curious to see how you did that great colour transition.

I also vote for the house rule that that Carno cannot be shot on turn 1, it's way too good for that.

Just flipped through all the pages of this thread and I have to say...SICK LOOKING ARMY! ESPECIALLY THAT TOTALLY FEARSOME AND AWESOME LOOKING CARNOSAUR! The saliva was an awesome addition as well.

Doh I just noticed that you swaped out for the old 5th edition shield,
Nice. :meh:

Luckily I'm not facing that many cannons in my meta, so my monsters usually gets to stomp and eat stuff!
All my models have 5ed shields but I understand your viewpoint, might try to enlarge it but probably not.

Thank you! I also thinks this is one of my best work today so I'm really glad that you say so!
Here's a link to the original size of the picture it's quite hi-res so I hope you can inspect the transitions.

I did the transition mainly by very light drybrushing. I also shaded the darker areas with some black wash from army painter (same as the old badab black wash)

That's kinda my army's theme ^^

Nothing new hobby-wise to show you today, I started working again today and won't have as much time anymore. Right now I'm working on some lustrian themed terrain.

Also I recommend you to read my battle report I did yesterday against Beastmen. Great game, where you also can see the painted Carno in action.

Read all about it here: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/lustria-campaign-2400-pts-vs-beastmen.12419/

Yeah man, i saw the strings on saliva on the carno and the fact that the player had been playing through the campaign and i thought, that sounds awfully familiar. anyway nice one man congrats on getting on GW!!!

Congrats on your White Dwarf Daily appearance!

When I saw the small picture on their main page, I thought "That looks awfully familiar". Then I clicked the link and saw the awesome Carnosaurus which I instantly recognized. Congratulations on your well deserved GW website time!

EDIT: Just noticed they called your jade "heavily weathered bronze". Hmm...

Thanks a lot guys! This was a very pleasant surprise.
I emailed them my carnosaur last week or so thinking that if I would ever have any chance to be featured on the daily it would be now with the new Lizardmen release.

But that they did a whole army feature is pretty awesome, they must have pulled the pics of my flickr account.

Yeah saw that, guess you can't win them all :P

Armywise I'm not working on any lizardmen at the moment, my friend forced me to put together a mordheim warband. My main hobby focus at the moment is terrain building. I'm doing some jungle forrest, some jungle ruins and a large gorge for our upcoming campaign battle.

Here's a kinda crappy wip picture of the trees.

See ya!

Hi everyone, quick update!

Here's what I currently got on my working table:

-A 5ed Steg. With the new stegs being awesome I figured it was time to paint this old boy. He had missed his front horns somehow so I sculpted some new for him.
-12 chameleon: These are finally getting paint on them. Have gone far to long, and I use them in almost every game to boot. Gonna be nice to have my "standard" force painted.
-A converted skink chief on terradon, found a use for that extra skink oracle in the carno box
-A test skaven for a future army

Ps. Also in the shot are 4 of my 10-12 unpainted kroxigors. I will field a krox unit someday.
