How Mike paints an arse-tonne of Skinks: Part 1: Watered down Lutheran Blue Messily paint all skin and scales with Lothern Blue over a white basecoat. 2 layers if the paint ends up too thin, but some variety helps the overall look.
Hmmmm has anyone considered Nurglifying models from other armies the way (@Ritual I think) did the tank? Maybe even a Nurgle Carnosaur (maybe makes not much sense in AoS but in the Old World). Elves or so touched by Nurgle might also look cool.
That is a lot of minis @Magic_karl, good luck painting them all. I am curious how you plan to paint your flock of flyers. This was a great use of a Lizardmen stegadon turned into Nurgle Dragon, I bet an entire army of diseased Lizardmen is possible (especially if they were corrupted by some foul Skaven; maybe the lost army of Chaqua?). Never seen nurgle elves though
So my camera and lighting don’t quite work with tutorials in mind... so just briefly my skink skin recipe: 1- Watered down Lothern Blue 2- Sotek Green on the scales 3- Watered down Coelia Greenshade 4- Drybrush Lothern Blue over everything 5- Drybrush Skink Blue over everything 6- Very light Drybrush of Etherium Blue for edges. Today’s update on progress: Most Skinks coloured now, just detailing and bases left. Chameleons done in 1 hour, very happy with the blending and how easy it was to achieve. Just bases and some detail left. Proud of the bastilladon gem. Just Drakenhoff Nightshade over white, then edges drybrushed pure white. Hopefull to getting most of this army done by Sunday still, realistically should just be details to do after that!
Excellent stuff, I'm taking the same approach get everything done by drybrushing then go back at a later point and add more detail. The gem looks good if you want to take it a tad further redo the top lines in white and you can wash the very bottom of the crystal with druchii violet and fade it into the drakenhoff.
Oo I like the idea of purple into blue... this is the first time I’ve done a gem this way, really just letting gravity do most of the work. Thanks all for the comments by the way!
Remember less is more, you want the Drakenhoff to be visible, you can apply one coat get it faded then really darken the bottom with another coat of Druchii just keep it at the bottom away from the fade and it should make it look like it's pulsing.
I like your chameleons, it looks like they have a little mud shading on their legs? Hopefully to help them blend in to the jungle
I was surprised as well! Kind of wish I’d taken Aginor’s advice and magnetised it for transport... suppose it’s not too late
