Converted COld Ones Painting Blogg, Updated August 22nd!!

Re: Converted Cold One Blog.. Updated Painting Pics July 10th

Well, finished with the Base Coat on all of them and I touched up the brown base coat again.. Now i'll be starting on the 2nd coat and hopefully I can get some of the highlighting done today as well! Pics soon...

Re: Converted Cold One Blog.. Updated Painting Pics July 10th

Well, here are some pics just a little bit farther in the painting process. Sorry but it hits a little over 100 degrees and I don't have AC in the house so its hard to sit still and just get things done! Especially with a wedding coming up ;) So these will be the last updates until I come back from the honeymoon and then some so don't expect too much until the beginning of August ;)

Here is the whole unit so far.. As you can see they all have their underbellies coated and they now have their scales done, all the scales need now is a highlight then I'll do the horns, mouth, and eyes as well as the fingers and toes then on to the riders :D Too bad the riders still have a ton of stuff to do :/ They still need three spears each, green stuffed drapery and ton of feathers... Sigh... conversion work is never done.. And when it finally is, GW releases new models!!!! :rage:

And then here is a pic of one of the individual riders.. I actually started to highlight his underbelly as well if you notice:

Now as I have said before, I am not all that great at painting but I am still proud of my work :) Hopefully I'll get better before I do my Saurus Lord on the Snow Leopard and my Customized Stegadon ;) As soon as this unit is done I'll be sure to get some WIP green stuff pics up of them!! Stegadon first though as I still have to find the spare change to go to my hobby store and buy the lonely High Elf Chariot sitting around ;) If any of you shop at Pegasus Hobbies and buy it.. I'll kill you :rage:

Enjoy!!

Re: CONVERTED COLD ONE PICS UPDATED JULY 15th!! Painting WIP

Cool looking CoC, keep up the good work :D

Re: CONVERTED COLD ONE PICS UPDATED JULY 15th!! Painting WIP

Intresting scheme for the cold ones... Can't wait to see the result :)

Re: CONVERTED COLD ONE PICS UPDATED JULY 15th!! Painting WIP

These are not finished. You need to get some inks on them and they will REALLY shine! That extra step will really bring them out.

Re: CONVERTED COLD ONE PICS UPDATED JULY 15th!! Painting WIP

Just got back! I'll start working on getting these done in the next couple days :)

Re: CONVERTED COLD ONE PICS UPDATED JULY 15th!! Painting WIP

Nice conversion!

Looks like you painstakingly resculpted the body to create smaller scales/fur.

Re: CONVERTED COLD ONE PICS UPDATED JULY 15th!! Painting WIP

Thanks for all the nice comments guys :)

@yourmumrang I know, trust me ;) I am putting down the first highlight then I'll be giving everything a wash and then I'll be putting down one last highlight.. And THEN I'll start working on the riders which I havn't even had a chance to start converting yet :/ Wow getting married sure takes up your time!!

@AunKnorrie Well, there really isn't any pain involved, just lots and lots of patience :/ It takes f o r e v e r to go model by model scale by scale but as long as you are determined to do it, you easily can ;) Trust me, this was my first ever time with Green Stuff, and the pictures don't show you guys a few of the errors.. :( But I'm confident that 8th edition will bring us some better looking Cold Ones so I wont have to worry about doing this any more ;)

Re: CONVERTED COLD ONE PICS UPDATED JULY 15th!! Painting WIP

New pics up! I finished the Cold One mounts and have started painting the riders but I don't really have any pictures with how they are coming along. Sorry for the distance between updates.. I generally paint very very slowly as I get easily distracted/bored with things and I'll paint maybe the scales on something and then go read a book or watch a movie ... o.O Anyways:

Well, sorry for the poor quality of photos. I had been using my Mom's super amazing camera of wonders (is actual name) and then, due to lack of amazing camera, I had to use my own six years out-dated camera :D But if you look at the pics of these guys from where they started and where they are out now, its pretty interesting to see how much they've evolved! Well, any comments/suggestions appreciated! Thanks for stopping bye :)

And lookie what I stumbled across!! Old pictures from when I was first hacking away at my Cavalry to see how they would fit together :D So if you wanted to try this out yourself you can see basically how it needs to be cut down on the saddle and that you don't glue the head on until after you have made the bodies. I believe I said it earlier but you will need to extend the neck a little so you can make it proportion a little better. Ummm for example, you dont want the body going from big to a small head: H- right away, you need more of a H:-.. I hope you get what I'm saying.. And then I found it helped to cut off all the sharp edges on the chest plate as well as taking off the reins from the Cold One's head and just leaving piercings in the jaw. And be careful not to cut the horns off from their bodies while you are cutting off the saddle from the mount's back.. Anyways, here's the photos!:

I'm going to have to redo a few other Cold Ones that I was originally going to use so I'll be able to make a quick tutorial with the pictures I take of my WIP.. Enjoy!! Oh, and on that last picture, it was so you could see the difference in the widths of the bodies ;)

dude i love this site!!! everyone has to coolest frecken ideas!!!

one of the main reasons why i have never played cold ones is they are f-ugly beyond beleif
and here you are makeing them so much cooler! and don't worry about the long necks it actually makes them a lot cooler. now what you should do is make a scar-vet on a horned one, with a skaven or what ever small creature you don't like in the mouth of your horned one's mouth breaking it's back i would love to see some thing like that

Re: Converted COld Ones Painting Blogg, Updated August 22nd!

Sad to see these guys go but... They will be included with the rest of what I have left that is for sale in the General Hobby/Tabletop chat forum.. These were a blast to work on! If you want to see some pics of how there were (almost) finished I have them on my photo bucket:
