    My goodness, it's so clean!

They really do look to be straight out of the book, or off the boxes.

I also really, really love the classic look!

Went back and redid a few of my first models to color the spines like you did, you did such a fantastic job!

Really stoked to hear you liked the spines so much @TrevBot :D

Been away from the brushes for awhile. Other stuff to keep me busy, but I've been getting back at it. I don't have any new Lizards to show today, but I did paint up some D'n'D miniatures for a friend.

It's not my best work, and I don't have a lot of experience painting skin. But I think they turned out okay. The miniatures themselves are from Heroforge - A very different beast to paint their miniatures. Sculpt is of a pretty good quality, and I can definitely recommend them, but we are getting somewhat spoiled for quality with the newer lizards. Those miniatures sure needed a lot of help to bring out the details. They are very... Shallow? for lack of a better word.

Anyway, back to working on the Slaan! Gonna feel great to get some lizards in my hands again.

Finally finished the Slaan! It turned out alright, but I really dislike how... Textured? the resin feels. Anywas, on to plastics once more!

Perhaps, more importantly, this is Frank. He is the real power in the starhost.

Onwards to the Engine of the Gods!

Bit of a setback on the engine of the gods, unfortunately. Tried something new - And it just did not work, in an absolutely spectacular fashion. So I spent a good deal of time yesterday dunking it in isopropyl and scrubbing it with a toothbrush. Today it gets primed again.

    Once more into the breach.

@Darklaw Lovely models! I'd love to know how you do your blues, especially your skink skin and scales

    Thanks ^^
    The skink skin:
    Basecoat Baharroth Blue.
Shade all over with a mix of 2:1 Lahmian Medium and Temple Guard Blue.
Recess shade with Coelia Greenshade, where you want it darkest. Mouth line and such.
    Highlight with Baharroth Blue.
Extreme highlight with a 1:1 mix of Lahmian Medium and Ulthuan Grey.

The scales are just a 1:1 mix of Kantor Blue and Lahmian medium, painted over the Baharroth Blue basecoat. :)

@Darklaw Sounds like Itepixcauh's recipe for skink flesh! No wonder they look so good

It is. He's been credited for it earlier, but we are very priviledged that he is willing to share ^^

So I finally finished the stegadon for my EotG. I had to strip it halfway through my first attempt, because my glazing attempts had ended up making it look like it was dipped in sewage. Not a particular fan on that look.

I will say, though, that it is a very difficult model to paint. The amount of creases in the skin doesn't lend itself very well to my usual style of painting, so I had to get creative. I ended up highlighting the skin in a sort of streaky pattern, that I think ended up looking really good. It's fun when models force me to think a bit outside of the box, sometimes.

I had some more pictures, but for some reason they insist on being turned to the wrong way when I try to upload them - No matter what I do to them elsewhere, it seems. Oh well, this is technically still a WIP so I'm not too bothered.

I plan to paint my next one quite similarly.
Looks gouda! (Yes I noticed that autocorrect changed good to gouda. I left it because it is hilarious. :D )

    Finally finished the howdah!

I'm starting to realize that I like painting things with... Character? Basically, things that are alive are fun. Things like this Howdah and the slaan's throne really weren't. Had the same problem whenever I was painting weapons in my 40k days. My mind tries to wander, and convince me to just save it for later - Paint something else for now, and get back to the tedious parts at the end. I'm quite certain that's a trap, so I've managed to steer clear of it. For now. No saying how long that's going to last XD

    20190813_223158.jpg 20190813_223202.jpg

Anyhow, at the end of the day I'm happy with the results. I'm already started on the skink crew. This is a gorgeous model, but it's probably the most time consuming single model I've ever done. It really feels like you're painting 7 individual models, rather than just one.

Seems likely they are from the same region - Red crests on the skinks and all!

Finally hit the finish line with the EotG. Looking forward to putting him on a tabletop somewhere, because he sure took some time to get painted. Felt like an absolutely massive undertaking. That might be because I painted him in stages though, not sure. Didn't think it would be so time consuming, but in the end I'm pretty happy with the results.

Have a move coming up soon, so I don't know whether I'll start up a new project before october. But if I do, it'll probably be a bunch of Terradons. I realize Rippers are better, but they just look like an overly fitness enthusiastic primordial Jay Leno. Really not a fan.

Also, fireleech bolas are just so gloriously stupid a concept, I can't help but love it. "Creatures burning with celestial energies, harvested from the comets of Azyr.". No really. It's in the book. I love it. Gotta have that in my army.

    Excellent! :wideyed::wideyed:

Base, the gold on the howdah, the stegadon, and especially the little transition you did on the skink frills from green-to-purple-to-red ( :D--:spiderman:)

    Really beautiful work.

Finally finished with the move, and had some time to paint again. So I finished up 3 Terradons.

Photographs are a bit potato-y, but we haven't quite finished setting up lighting in the new place. Anyway, it's good to have a brush back in my hands.

Another batch of D'n'D miniatures are coming up, so I didn't want to start anything too time consuming.
I've been trying out the purple sun in my last two games. Haven't actually managed to cast the damned thing, but I'm hoping a coat of paint will change that. Still a sucker like that :p
