Blog Deeds painting and converting blog

Your work is fantastic! You have managed to put a great deal of detail work into all that green stuff.

First up I fancied a go at making some Deepkin bases - a little more sea like - as I found the models interesting but a little bland, so here they are;View attachment 44114View attachment 44117View attachment 44118View attachment 44119

I really like what you have done for your deepkin bases! This is exactly what I want to see more of: bases that look like they are under the sea! I hope you manage to paint them lots of bright, deep sea/coral colors!

Been toying with the idea of grabbing a few of the woodland folk models, as some are pretty nice.

...so I did and as I do with all models - added a few tweaks :)

Great looking start for your dryads, looking forward to seeing more of these!

And I enjoyed your bastiladon, great red color. :artist: Looking forward to more pictures :snaphappy::snaphappy::snaphappy:

Thank you very much, glad you have enjoyed :)

The deepkin painting has been put on hold while I busy myself with more green stuff lol (but I will get them done and popped on here for your judgment :)

I got their sunken ship (as again it’s cool but boring) was thinking of adding a big ethereal squid/octopus in one half.

And for the dryad lot I’m thinking autumnal colouring would be nice.

Catching up on this thread, even if i'm late to the party I gotta give major props to your greenstuff skills, the deepkin bases especially look like something GW would release in plastic.
Also I love the gem on your Basti, it looks so magical and arcane. Also I'm sure its tricky to paint something that is "meant" to be this big shiny centerpiece in your preferred darker color palette and I think it bridges that gap adeptly.

Cool conversions with those Sylvaneth!
I also built my fair share of those and I have to say they are great for conversions. So many possibilities and so many bits included with all the units.

Autumn/ Fall colors look great on dryad models! And the rest of the wooded army as well, there are lots of great examples out there. I am also a fan of the birch/aspen colored tree peoples (white with black bark flecks); with some red leaves they would look fantastic!

I agree. I have recenty seen some really nicew birch Dryads, with pink leaves even! They looked awesome.

@Cageyblood
thank you very much :) I’ll get the deepkin painted as soon as I have some spare time,
I’ve now also convinced myself that I want a dryad army (just because they would lol ace - defo getting the giant beetle...that’s sick)

@Warden and Aginor

Yeah I saw someone who had painted pink blossoms in their models (the hunters) and they looked really good, going to go for faded birch-like effects on the wraith, like an old forest crone look and for the wraith something more lively (with the summoned swarm extending from his hand it will add some nice vibrant colour)

Added a few hunters to the mix (because the models are so nice) - Freeman ancient and a few dryads to come (also wanna get the giant beetle queen and tree suit wearing crazy lady)
-will paint as soon as I get a day off (maybe Friday)

As promised, my first two dryad conversions all painted (the bases on my models currently aren’t finished due to not having my basing stuff to hand - they will be very forest-like/Floral when complete)

C&C most welcome - as I intend to convert and paint an entire 2,000 army very soon!

Those treemen look great! Considering how great the conversions were to start with, you have only made them even better!

I especially like the one with all the bony bits (though it looks like I spy an orcy skull within the branches! :bored:) Well done! :artist::snaphappy:

Thank you both :)

Yeah I’m pretty happy how hey came out (sorry about the orc skull (they just have such good skulls, I had to use one) ;P

I also love Kurnoth Hunters, beautiful models. :)
