Even with mid I armies they are fairly effective against heavily armoured, but only 1 wound units like Knights as they hit automatically and ignore armour saves.

But they excel at war machine hunting which for most armies there is something they can go after.

If you can get them to work for you then I applaud your skill. I couldn't but I'm no expert for 8th and Tomb Kings. I switched back to my Empire and Orcs for most of 8th due to how rough the TK book was IMO.

TK's is a VERY tough army to play.

I wouldn't mind it against Empire and Orcs though ;)

I loved most armies in 8th but too many people went with a netlist and it got old. I loved using my Wood Elves and the double flee rule! I was told that my army was nerfed in this edition and chaos would stomp me...perhaps. Perhaps. I was starting to get a few people interested in playing again and along came covid19. I would love to play against even the romper stomp lists of the past just to get in a couple dozen games.

Well, if you are ever in the Netherlands and if COVID is over, i am certainly in for a game :). Before COVID i played every once in a while in a club in Den Bosch, we have an old guard of 8th players that are still very much active, which is a lot of fun.

I also don't know why people would say Wood Elves were nerfed, they are pretty strong with their latest book. Wild Riders of Kurnous are probably the strongest glass cannon aggressive cav unit in the game, and Sisters of Thorn are a great hybrid between spellcasters and skirmishing cavalry. Lore of Life on Lvl4 casters, that can also be your General with Dwellers from Below is also nothing to sniff at. Chaos is the strongest army in the game, everything gets stomped by them unless you really know what you are doing and the Chaos player makes mistakes, so that is not much of a yardstick IMHO.

I have a relative who lives in Den Bosch, so if I ever get back over there (and can somehow bring my army) I'll PM you.

If you're ever in the States on the East Coast the welcome is there as well! The problem as I saw it was that they were judged based on how powerful the other Elf armies were. In that light they were underpowered(haha) and the Spirits IMO were lowered in usefulness. I know I started using Dryads less and less and even Treemen were less scary due to always being able to wound on '6s'. Hordes did also hurt the army but I was able to run a Sethayla style army in 8th and still do okay, double flee rule is amazing in a high leadership army like WE. Sadly unlike in 7th I did have to run a caster in 8th as magic was more of an issue. As I mentioned hordes made a great deal of the edition boring to me as I started seeing two of three big blocks of troops and minor additions and this was called an army. I prefer dozens of units and variety in the build but that is me. I started playing my Skaven to combat this and out-horded them by fielding multiple units of 50 slaves with 50+ clanrats and Stormvermin. When you see over 400 models on the table in a 2500pt game it does give you a psychological edge.

Cool! And yeah that is true, of the three Elf armies they are the weakest, but that is more because the other Elf armies are so very strong. To be quite honest, how i experienced 8th is that at the beginning the hordes seemed very strong and everybody was bringing massive units, but it is pretty easy to counterplay using mass avoidance with Dark Riders or Skinks. Feels pretty bad to have 3 hordes only to have your enemy dartle around them the whole game, kill your monsters and win like 400-800 VP after they only fled the entire game.

It's why I stopped playing my TK as I couldn't keep up with other armies. Don't get me wrong they had potential and I've seen some really well played TK armies. I was terrified of the VC with the ability to spam units with casting as they could control movement so well. I agree the Elf armies were really strong and I hated the netlists from those more than any other. I guess it's more that I played a more tourney based group vs the casual group I had in 7th. I won a few games with my dwarves (on the topic of dartle) by using max gyrocoptor and slowing my opponents down while I got into position. I just would love to have the people I talk to online be able to game with, they seen more fun that a few of the guys I run into. Sorry for the whine.

Used to play TK, and i feel the same way, the army was just pretty poor from a competitive standard. In the edition before this you still had the double shooting Catapult shenenigans which was pretty good and Scorpions charging the turn they got out of the ground which made the army passable, but the power level in 8th was just too low. Snake Surfers were cool and all from a competitive perspective, but not enough to carry the army.

About playing with people online, i don't know how well supported 8th is on something like Tabletop Sim, might be interesting to ask around.

I meant I'd like to play with the people I talk to online to be able to play in real life. I didn't say that very well.

The Tomb Kings of Khemri site was amazing, there are still a few of us on there. I miss the community that AoS killed. Again I don't hate the game as I have friends who play and enjoy it. It's just not for me and I will say I am grumpy that it killed off The Old World. I just want to go back to two or more games of Fantasy a month.

If my schedule (and my friends schedules) allowed me to do two games a month, I would be in seventh heaven.
