They would be better offensive, but more fragile. I'm thinking that the general reason why they are considered so OP, is the easy access to +1AS, combined with other defensive tools. Without easy access to the +1AS it would perhaps make for a more well rounded character. Bare in mind, they are slow, so they rely heavily upon such saves to be durable.

We can have a 1+ armour save "Karnosaurus" now. I can accept a loss of one strenght for that.

The Oldblood gains +1W, thunderstomp and +4(5) attacks at S6, however they cannot hide with CoRs so are more vulnerable.

It's a trade-off, but one I'm willing to take. We can still get that ridiculous 1+/4+ rerollable save. We just have to pick a spear and shield :p

How?, they grant no AS? +5AS Scaly Scale +4 with shield, +2 with Heavy armour.... Am I missing something?

My main concerned is, that every time I see a lizard update, it seems to be a nerf to the current situation. This might be a more so-so case, by it self, But I am seriously considering leaving this concept if such a streak continues -.-

4+ scaly skin on oldblood, +2 armour of destiny and +1 from shiel = 1+.

I think you're exaggerating. We don't have any clue if we lose poison on javelins and this is actually better than what we're currently used to. Let's be honest here - none of us use the Carnosaur in any serious game, with the above change it might actually see some use.

*Sigh* Yeah I guess .... :shifty:

I was just looking forward to S7 with the option of not dying at every canon shot....

I'm defiantly exaggerating here, since it was simply my wish thinking, that we would ever see a competitive good Carnosaur.

yes losing S7 blows, but it's a change I'm willing to accept if it mean that we'll be seeing more carnosaurs. Besides it's still 5 S6 attacks with D3 wounds. Should it wound any hero/lord there's 33% chance he'll die in one go.

We can still opt to not take dawnstone and instead have shield, armour of destiny and piranha blade for added armour piercing and D3 wounds :D

Only for certain monsters. Dragons won't be part of that.

Here's hoping Warriors of Chaos won't get anything too crazy.

I don't really like these arbitrary distinctions. I would have preferred that the whole thing got cleaned up uniformly.

I wonder what will happen with the Manticore.

Honestly I dont see how they could have cleaned up monsters, there are so many of them and the difference between them is huge. This allows scarvets/oldbloods to viably take the carno. Give it a 4+ ward or mabye a charmed shield, you got yourself a great killer right there. The old carno doesnt have shit on the new one.

I dont see how the lustrian javelins are changed, because they are a completely different weapons. Lustrian Javelin does not equal normal javelins.

Its also important to understand that all armies are reciveing nerfs, as they have stated several times nerfs are a priority over buffs.

Also nothing is final, the best thing we can do is to playtest and give feedback. They're trying to make a game for the community, not trying to play gods.

It would seem that this is actually a more positive change, than I felt when I first read it. Not that I have change my mind or anything, but I just see where you guys are coming from. The option of having both ward and great AS for the Carno, seem great. It just bugs me that it has to be given with the loss of offensive power.
Also they are frenzy from the get go, which means more Attacks, with less control. I know I want my carnosaur in CC, it would just be easier now to force the carno into useless bunkers of meat shields....

I know I'm whining here :sorry: they made a general great change, and all I'm seeing is the change in a few stats

    • nerf cannons
    • adjust points costs for weaker monsters
    • award victory points for killing the rider or the monster
    • cannons randomize who they hit (rider or monster)
They are definitely far more potent than before.

It would seem that the carnosaur has been renamed. Just a small observation.

They have to rename most things because of copyright, so you will probably see new names for most things.

I'll just wait and see what happens. Much can change with the BRB and ABs so it can be difficulty to judge the change as is.

Nerfing cannons is tricky, reading through the discussion on the forums makes me even more unsure of what we actually want to nerf.
I agree, that they could have also done that.
    interesting idea.
This they should really add, so it atleast doesnt hit both of them.

That's true. It is difficult to make concrete judgements when only snippets of information is available.

Either way, there is little on the line. It doesn't cost anything at all and we're free to ignore it an stick with 8th if it isn't to our liking.

You know what, having thought on this, I really don't have a problem with the change at all.

Being able to take a super cowboy actually sounds like fun. Totally worth losing a point in strength and 1 wound.
