9th Age Discussion of OpenHammer (ETC) and Ninth Age (Swedish Comp)

How did you get so good at it so quickly? You must be a natural.

Must be a Sacred Spawning :D
Anyway, lets gets back on topic.
I will make a thread when I got this badboy(s) done ;)

after some thougt, i like it... I mean i can totaly see me fielding a carno vet now....when they nerf cannons hell be a blast...there roll will be even more important since flanking is getting more important in the view of 5+ parry....

dragons and nasty thing should be handled defferently, as far as i can remember 6th or 7th editions were dominated by unstopable dragon killing machines able to singlehandedly wipe out armies...there's no fun in that....

well I can see one limiting factor. A limit on lord points would make us choose between a slann or a carno lord OR gimped versions of both. I think it's a fair balance, but I can see people have begun to "balance" the OB over on the other forum by limiting the armour save to 2+ :p

However I would like to believe that most folks understand your point, in that if it is a choice, it doesn't need to be dealt with.

That's my point. Although Carnos are no dragons, they are still very potent. Being able to take a carno that is sitting behind a 1+ ( or even 2+) armour save and a 4+ ward is pretty scary.

That is true ;)

I would love to see more offensive use for karnosaur. How about something g like the pinned rule, it has in AoS.
If two attacks hit, the karnosaur may make an additional roll to wound, with certain superior applications.

Difference being that it cannot fly and have WS3/I2. The star dragon have 7 all across the board, fly and a breath weapon. It's in a completely different league.

I'd say it comes down to price for the Carno and the amount or points we're allowed to spend on lords.

Also do remember that while we do gain a wound we lose a strength. The Carnosaur will be extremely efficient at chopping up ogres, but it'll be weaker against some of the tougher characters out there.

With that said I agree. The new karno lord can turn up very nasty.

Needs +1 strength against "Large Target" kinda like it used to have back in the day.

I'm at my parents place, but sneak peak 6 = Ridden monsters use combined wound and highest toughness and wound, but cannot use armour and ward from my understanding.

A character can use the mounts weapon do skink chief on baby Steg is a go. Unless I misunderstood.

Just to clarify they change stats and points to balance combat oriented characters on monsters in a meaningful way. They talk about giving +1 wound so 8 wound star dragon. Is that inferior to star dragon with no combined rule, but a Lord with saves? It's hard to say. One way to look at it is that Characters are now less vulnerable to cannons and dragon mages are more safe.

Also all monsters count as having 1 rank.

@Phatmotha-phucka would you be willing to translate 9h Age with me to Danish? I'm without work so I hav plenty or time at the moment, but it wouldn't be before the release of the Beta and mostly the BRB to begin with.

Why the need for translation? it's my experience that Danes are pretty familiar with English :P

A lot are, but not all especially younger players :p

I reckon you might underestimate the youth today ;) but then again, I like the idea, so why not. We could always use more players and the youth is the way to go.
Most of my students seems more interested in modern computer gaming, but there might be some among who could find it exciting.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just that one could hit a broader group of people. But mostly I have to see how the Beta looks and how much effort is needed. I can write most of it myself, but there'll definitely be some things I'd have a hard time finding a proper translation to.

However I don't currently have s job so that's a major part of it as well xD

Combined profile for our carnasaurs? Doesn't that give him less wounds? + the oh now you van give it a wardsave goed right out the door...

I guessed it's also a fun exercise ;)

I'd like to, Taco!
I am also unemployed at the time, but cant say my days arent filled with projects :D
Trying to get my company up and running meanwhile I am trying to get a job and teach myself 3D :P

I might not be the best guys for the subject, even though Mig Eng-lis ish veuvy gut.

Regarding the Carn....Karnosaur.....
I like it.
Getting dropped from S7 to S6 will not be a problem, as you just make sure your oldblood or Scar-vet takes a great weapon.
being able to take it like this makes it WAY more viable, and I may FINALLY get to field just HALF of my Carno Collection (I ...I have 5)...

What bumbs me is to see that they apparently canned "Blood Roar"...
