Do colors mean anything to Lizardmen?

I'm totally new and am so excited to get painting. I'm awaiting my codex and just wanted to be sure that colors do not mean anything. I.E. chapter, type of army, red make them go fast lol.

Not special colours for any chapter.. but a few editions ago there were sacred spawnings (Spawning of Sotek, Spawning of Chotec, etc..) There spawnings gave the lizardmen special abilities and these spawnings could be shown by giving them different colours or something! Sotek was red, chotec was yellow for example! But this edition there are no special rules or chapters which could be shown by giving them colours! But if you want Chotec themed army you can paint them with yellow scales..
 
Welcome to the forum! As Zwuppie said, no special meaning in the coliurs in this edition. Lizardmenare a great army for a creative painter, as you can make them as bright or as dark as you want without it necessarily looking goofy.
 
Thank you for the info. I just can’t figure out what color to do!? I've never had such a hard time lol. I'm going to be patient though and take my time to figure it out. I've wanted to paint a Lizardmen army for so long it will be worth the wait. I look forward to reading and looking around the message board. Thanks again for the input!

For inspirational purposes:

5th ed army book covers the following (just for painting/modeling purposes mentioned):
Mark of Chotec (inspired by the sun god) - Vermilion
Mark of Sotec (relentless ferocity) - Blood Red
Mark of Tlaxcotl (utter determination) - Yellow
Mark of Tepoc (profound understanding) - Purple
Mark of Huanchi (exceptional stealth) - Black
Mark of the Old Ones (destined for greatness) - White
Mark of Tzunki (agility and keen eyesight) - Mottled
Mark of Itzl (ability to ride cold ones) - great crests

6th ed has the actual spawning pool rules mentioned.
Chotec - blazing orange
Tzunki - dark angels green
Tlazcotl - Sunburst yellow
Tepok - Liche Purple
Sotek - Blood Red
Mark of the Old ones - Albino -> ice blue highlighted with white

Quetzl - boney and think scales
Huanchi - dark colors (black (night) / brown (earth))
Itzl - Boney head crests
