8th Ed. Do we roll both arty dice for salamanders

There some mention in the rules about overshoot with the salamander.
Does that mean we roll both arty dice when we shoot and a non arrow on the scatter dice means overshoot?

You roll an artyllery dice, it says nothing about rolling a scatter die which is a compleetly different kind.

The only way to overshoot is to roll a 10 and go past your target. Position you're sallies at about 7 inches and that should not be a problem.

Or aim for somthing over 10 inceches away and even though you cant reach them you might magicaly hit the unit in combat
