If terradons fly over a target and drop rocks forcing the enemy to make a panic test, which way do they flee???? Because when the rocks actually happens u are on the other side of the unit like so

So would they flee away from the terries then? just a little confused

No worries, I'll move the thread.

This question has come up before, and it was concluded that the enemy flees from the direction of the attack, and technically the attack comes from the front so the flee in the same direction you flew over them. This means you can land right behind them and catch them with the crossfire rule to wipe them out if they flee. :bored:
 
Really??? Thats awesome... has GW clarified this or is it just like another rule we have until a FAQ comes out?
 
It hasn't been clarified, but I don't think it really needs to be clarified... You flee from the direction of the attack from shooting always, and the direction of the attack is the direction the terradons are flying.

Otherwise... Imagine making a 90 degree turn after flying over a unit if they fled from the direction the terradons end up, you could send someone anywhere. It would be a bit too powerful.

Also remember if there are several units in a row, and you fly down the length of them dumping rocks on the first unit, if it flees it will go through the other units which will cause panic in them, you could potentially wipe out 2-3 units with lucky rolling from dropping the rocks and crossfire.

It need not even be sneaky, what exactly can your opponent do to stop you when you don't even need to see the target at the start of your move to drop rocks on them? Any lone mages would be completely decimated.

Mmm every thread about terradons I see I like them more and more, I think I really really need to change my lists and add more.
 
My 5 Terradons have wiped out anything/everything that has threatened me in my current campaign. Massacre every game so far! : )
 
I thought we figured this one out too, but on another lizard site they concluded that the enemy flees away from the unit that caused the panic, thus the final location of the terradons. I agree though that this gives the terradons even more control as to which direction they want to "aim" the panicked unit. Honestly I'm willing to play it whichever way my opponent agrees to, as either way it makes for some nasty tricks.
 
By RAW the enemy must flee directly away from the unit that caused the test. Simple.

Nothing in the rules suggests that a unit should flee in line of fire or anything of the sort, just flee directly from the unit (no matter weither it has moved since causing the panic test or not).
 
Hmmm interesting. If you look at the panic rules though on page 49, past the bit where it describes fleeing direction from shooting, it covers odd things particularly in other phases like fanatics, and says they will flee toward the nearest table edge. I guess there is a case for that as well. The most important thing I got out of that part though is that tests like fanatics, miscasts etc are taken immediately, not at the end of the phase. How does immediately work with the dropping of rocks? I guess most people would attacks as they move the terradons, they panic from where the terradons are when they get attacked, ie. right in front of them? I don't think I worded that very well but hopefully you get what I mean..

I think it would be rather amusing (and somewhat illogical, but thats GW) to be able to direct which way they flee based on where you end up putting the terradons. So many evil situations arise. Send the unit into some terrain so they get stuck even when they rally, or send them straight toward your deployment, or hell into the path of their own warmachines or missile troops to block LoS.
 
Or make sure the unit you panic has US5 or above when they start fleeing, that's when it gets really fun.

Send them down the length of the enemy's battle line, or send them to get destroyed by one of your other units that is within 6" of the enemy, possibilities are endless!
 
Hopefully GW makes a FAQ soon... when im buying them at the store i might ask one of the incompetent employess though :D
