Help East Asian (Japanese) Skin Help

Hello!

I know most people here will have experience with reptiles and Dinos, but I’ve recently started painting up a scermish game with my dad and found that I have no idea how to paint a Japanese skin tone with the paints I have.

Does anyone on here know if a good set of GW paints that would work?

I had saved this tutorial for Test of Honour samurai from the Takeda Clan, but it doesn't look like the painter does anything specific for a Japanese skin tone.

I have a few of these Warlord Games- Test of Honour minis myself, but I haven't painted them yet.

What skirmish game have you picked up? I have heard good things about Ronin and Bushido as well as Test of Honour.

Thank you! I think I’ve settled on the standard skin paints from GW, they work well enough

We actually did get Test of Honor! It’s grear fun, the the minis are VERY fiddly. Turns out they used an OOP Pike and Shot set as the base parts!

They are so tiny! I had never worked with pieces so tiny before, I bent most of the spears before I figured out how to get them in the ashikagu's hands.

What color-schemes do you plan to use for the armor? Historical Japanese heraldry/ clan mons? If you post your finished minis anywhere send me a link! I would be interested in seeing them.

We never really worked out those spears, I just end up breaking the thumbs and then bending them back :L

Right now I’m just painting them “Blue Team” colours with a coustom mon, nothing special if I put them up on the Facebook group I’ll be sure to link it!
