Blog Enthusiastic Hobbyists Blog (idea for my tempel gaurds WIP)

That's a tough one. I've used a grey + black mix for highlights in the past. I'm not a great painter though, so there may exist a much better method/colour.

Your model is looking great so far!

Using a "dark-grey" then a "lighter grey" seems to work best for highlighting black templar armor, and I have seen my brother use this method for working his wood-elf cloaks. Specific GW colors I couldnt give you though.

Thanks for the advice but as i was working on the black i did not like how it was turning out so i went with bone...still lots left to do but here she is so far...IMG_20170606_133132.jpg

Please don't take that as negative criticism on your work, but IMO that thing is hideous. :D

You built and painted it kinda cool though :)

Confused hobbyist is confused??
Sorry if I confused you. What I meant is: Stonehorns are hideous beasts, I dislike them in general.
But you did a good job on it. :)

It is like if you were a great musician playing Bavarian Folk Music. You may be great and I might like your interpretation and admire your skill, but I still don't like the songs. :D

Maybe if you can sharpen up some of the rounded corners, and get rid of the "tree", "volcano" and "cannon". It'd also depend of other scenery that you'll have going with it.

But this dragon/ crocodile thing could be a good start for a selfmade salamander... and the caveman could serve as an armature for a kroxigor... if the size is fitting...

So messing around more. I want the sun cannon look way more imposing. So it will match my power house bastiladon what do you think am.i going the right way...20170730_191433.jpgStill losts to do need to figger out how to add the armored scales to her...

When you keep loning at your model and there is just something you dont loke about it so you try again...20170821_184823.jpgIm going to have to buy more gs/ millput soon at this rate...

What do you think lowering the head the right choice, the neck felt wrong...

Ok im trying something totally new for me im blocking put the basic shape of yhe neck with foam bard tp try and save on gs...i dont know if im going to just rip it off or if it will go well...we shall soon see....

It's coming along quite nicely! Another good armature for modelling clay is aluminum foil, in case you ever need an alternative to firm board.

Nice job!

Was the right decision to straighten the neck... looks more wolfy and less gryphhoundy that way...
