8th Ed. Expanding my fledgling warhost

I have some thoughts regarding expanding what I've already collected. Here's what I have:

Skink Priest
Saurus Scar-Veteran/Oldblood on Cold One
20 Saurus Warriors
12 Skink Skirmishers
10 Temple Guard
Stegadon
5 Cold One Cavalry (w/ 7 more available, but not legally usable yet)

My first addition will be a Slann. I've played a handful of games without one and my Magic Phase has been super unreliable.

My real question is what to do after that. I want to beef up my core so I can legally play larger games and I'm thinking there are two ways to do that:
1) Invest in a battalion box to get 20 more saurus and 12 more skinks (plus more temple guard to protect my Slann and more ?useless? Cold One Cavalry)
2) Invest in a box of skinks and a box of krox to run a skrox unit and buy another box of TG to protect my Slann

What do you guys think? Is there another option I'm totally missing?

20 Saurus Warriors
12 Skink Skirmishers
10 Temple Guard

Whatever you add, it should expand these three units. 20 Saurus should be viable at 1500, but more would be better and 10 TG isn't a worthwhile unit. You will always have a use for more than one unit of skinks.
If you want to run a Skrox unit, you need more than one more box of skinks. Sure you can field a limited use little unit with one Kroxigor, but I think you'd want 30+ skinks and 2 Kroxigor minimum. And I think you always want some skink skirmishers in addition to that.

Slann first for sure, get the finecast one
Temple Guard upto 20 (24 if you can)
Saurus up to 25 (30 if you can)
And for skrox I think 24 skinks 3 kroxigors (30 if you can) is the minimum
but you also still want skinks for skirmishers 10-20

The army box is a good deal but it may be more Cold One Cavalry than you want. Cold One Cavalry are a mildly controversial choice.

Here's the Cold One Tactica, if it sells you on Cold Ones, go for the army box. If it doesn't you are probably better off buying boxes of Saurus Warriors, TG, and Skinks.

I would use regular Skinks (painted differently) for Chamo Skinks. Much cheaper and in my opinion better looking.

I would think if your in it for the long haul the CoC will come be rebalanced to be useful in the new book.... hopefully.

Thought I'd give you guys an update.

I bought Lord Kroak (I'll use him as a generic Slann unless I'm playing super high points games), 3 kroxigor and 24 skinks.

I'll probably run the Slann by himself until I get more TG and trade the points in special for more CoC.

I'll probably save up for the battalion box next (20 more saurus, 12 more skinks, 10 more TG and 8 more Coc). I plan to get some games in this weekend so I'll let you know what my list is and how things go.
